New Lian- Li PC-A10B

Shame ya lemon never worked mate .maybe you could sell ya jif lemon on the for sale forum :D .and what the hell ever happend to OMO washing powder .did they change its name or did they stop makeing it :D cant think why they would stop makeing the stuff :D

Hi, omo is still sold in Africa and Asia, but we'd better stop this banter, before we get reprimanded for being OT...

Can someone say what heatsinks definitely fit and those that don't ?

It looks like the Tuniq might be dogy, the Scyte just about fits, and I imagine the Freezer 7 Pro would not have a problem. What about the Big Typhoon ?

Tuniq is dodgy. Can't slide into case if removeable tray is preassembled outside case. Need to permanently remove top fan if assembled in case.
However there is so much cooling around the processor already you might like to try the stock "free" intel cooler and see what results you get before splurging on something more expensive. I'm using the stock cooler now as a (possibly) temporary measure having abandoned the Tuniq and getting idle at 38 degrees with a 6600 according to the BIOS on MSI P965 Platinum and no side panel. Its brand new so haven't cross checked this number in any way.

Incidentally the rear coverplate on the tuniq is a bitch to get off and I'm frankly surprised the Mobo still works after the surface damage I (well my son actually) inflicted on it

Edit: Correction Idling at 35 system 27

So you are saying the tuniq is too tall so has to be assembled inside ?
Which makes me wonder if it is even possible to close the side of the case with the tuniq installed.

Hi, the A10 has a deeper case than normal to support two PSU's side by side, thus I would be very suprised if the side panel would foul any HSF....
ChrisC

However the psu's are turned on their sides...hmmm.

Looking at my Intel bad axe mobo and the tuniq on it, the side of the tuniq does not even come up to the top edge of the mobo where the blue intel heatsinks are. in fact it does not even touch the heatsinks. The cpu socket is a little lower down then normal on the bad axe as is the placement of the dimms, which is why you cannot use the corsair memory cooler as the dimm sockets are practically touching my g80. Bearing that info in mind I am thinking of risking it and going with the lian li. I would prefer the tj09 except it's too big.

Hi, yes you are correct they are on their sides, I realised this when I posted and did a quick measurement comparision between my case and my partners. and there's a few mm's in it. However I can assure you that the motherboard tray is deeper as on my old Lian-Li I had to remove the heatsink fan and pull open the case a bit to ease the Scythe heatsink into the case, my pictures earlier on can confirm this...

Trying to decide on this Lian Li or the new Silverstone TJ09.

chriscatt - if you had your choice all over again would you get the Lian Li over the Silverstone ?

Hi, I'd keep my Lian-Li, but who am I to say, haven't got a Silverstone to compare it with, judging from the pictures it looks like a good case for H20. But then there is a price premium for all of that...

Just read my second account of bad resonating panels in a TJ09 and it seems hard to fix.

Don't know anything more as I do not have one, based on that and Silverstone's bad track record with towers + Lian Li's superb record I know where I would 'risk' my money. On the safe bet.

TJ09 looks better in my opinion though, maybe when the TJ09 Evolution comes out.

That is interesting Yewen. I read one account on an Asian site of resonating side panels. That worries me a bit. Have you got any links you can post ?

Also, even with the size of the TJ09, Clone had to remove the back support brackets to get the Tuniq in. Plus you need to add additional top fans and hard drive fans youself. It also looks like the fan for cooling the gpu area is difficult to remove. I also don't like the window on the TJ09. Windows tend to scratch easy and show up swirl lines under light even after using a microfiber cloth. More and more now I am leaning toward the Lian Li. I also like the fact it can take 2 psu's, so when I eventually go sli, I can get another Seasonic M12 which with modular cabling are easy to keep tidy.

I am convinced the top fans won't get in the way of the Tuniq due to where my cpu socket is positioned. My only potential issue now with the Lian Li is whether the mobo tray will slide into place with the Tuniq installed. EffBee says it does not which is a bummer.

Hi, yes looks like you are correct there Flanno, not really got up close to the controller to see those connectors, I might give the top fan a try on there.
My fans spin at around 1400rpm as I've actually turned off qfan in the bios as it boots real slow with it on. The fans all look the same from memory...
ChrisC

1400rpm sounds pretty decent.....so if it was me I would probably put the 2 fans where noise if most prevalent on the controller. No doubt the top fan and either the side gpu fan or front fan and run the remaining 2 off the mobo headers. I am now leaning more towards this case after reading some comments about the side panels resonating on the tj09. It also means when I go sli eventually if the single seasonic m12 700 isn't up to the job I can add another.

So which heatsink works best with this case i.e. - can be assembled outside the case and slide in on mobo tray and not touching the top fan. It sounds like the Tuniq is out for me as someone already posted on this thread the tray won't slide in with tuniq fitted. And when I eventually get a 680i mobo the Ninja needs modding to fit on this board.

HI, the ninja worked fine for me, installed it all before sliding in the motherboard tray. I've now connected the top fan to the controller...
ChrisC

Just ordered the A10B :)

I did some measurements on my Tuniq, and as you said in a previous post there is only a difference of 5mm in height between the Ninja which you fitted fine and slid in on the mobo tray, and the Tuniq. So hopefully it will go in. As for the width, the part of the Tuniq which is going to be near the top fan is 131mm wide - about 2cm more then your Ninja which is very close already. However my Tuniq fitted to my mobo has at least 2cm of clearance before you reach the edge of the board. It does not go up to the edge of the board like your Ninja. Probably down to cpu socket placement. So I am confident. If it does not fit, I have an unusued Big Typhoon which is only 122mm and compatible with the 680i mobo without any backplate moddiing (I plan to get in Feb.)

Thanks for your help.

Thanks Chris. Still waiting for it.

Quick question. Do you think there will be cabling issues with 2 psu's and 2 GTX's in this case.

Just thinking about the Antec P180 I had before and was running 2 x 7800GTX's plus an Audigy. Even with a modular psu it was a nightmare running psu cables. Something the P180 was famous for. With the A10 I would most likely be running 2 modular Seasonics, and seeing as both of the 8800GTX's would almost be touching the drive bays, I can see problems running 2 atx cables up along the mobo tray. Maybe I am being over analytical and everything will be fine. Would love to hear from someone with a G80 setup in this case. The Silverstone TJ09 is of course deeper and takes only 1 psu, but the resonating panel issues I heard about plus the noisy fans fans and having to add more put me off this case. I also hate windows.
