New member, First build! What are your thoughts?

/u will give you progress during the operation
/v will give you information about whats its been doing but this will be very long and very boring

just change the scheduled task to defrag c: instead of defrag -c

Do I have to use the /U?

I don't mind not seeing the progress report. Why is /V very boring?

you dont but /u will show the you progress...

because it will tell you about how it was moving blocks of data from one part of a disk to another.. not very interesting

try and find out

lol sorry! I won't be able to for a while though!!

On another note, my PSU came today!! It's very nice!! Just hope it works!!! Got a PSU tester on the way so will keep you posted when that comes.

The disk defragmenter cannot start because you have insufficient priveleges to....

ah well I tried, I cba to switch user xD

Going back to the SSD and intel smart response. Is intel smart response the thing that lets you make the SSD a cache for the HDD? (does this make sense?)

If so, is this better than having an SSD for OS and other software and HDD for storage?

it will never be better but it is cheaper and yes smart response is the caching thing

I thought win7 automatically disables defrag on ssd`s. I have Ultimate 64bit. When i installed my M4, i went into the start menu, clicked accessories, clicked system tools and then clicked disk defragmenter. When the window opened my Cdrive already had " Never Run" written along side it. Is this not the same for all Win7 OS`s?

How is it cheaper? Wouldn't it cost the same?

Intel Smart Response uses a 64GB SSD for a cache and can cache a large mechanical HDD.. such as 1TB.. so you have 1TB of "fast" storage for £90

Without ISR you would need to purchase at least 128GB SSD which comes it at around £150

SSD is faster than ISR.. but ISR is cheaper

I was only planning on getting a 60GB SSD anyway? This should be enough for my OS and Protools + Reason set-up I think.
