Edit - new 1.11.2 world, brand new map! We're going back to our roots! Check out post #69 (lol) https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/posts/30635762

A basic, friendly server with a few plugins to enhance gameplay. No factions, mcmmo or owt, just a group of like minded players who want to play Minecraft!

Well, a few things have happened, we tried a full modded FTB server, but it didn't really suit us. So - we have a shiny new 1.11.2 world that is brand new (I booted the server up yesterday, so it's very new). We're sticking with what we've had in the past, semi-van. This means the basic Minecraft package that anyone can play without modded clients, but with a few plugins to make gameplay more enjoyable. We're fleshing out the plugins as we speak, see http://community.cooltable.org/t/new-semi-van-1-11-2-minecraft/284 for the plugin discussion, and see http://cooltable.org/minecraft for login details. This page hasn't been updated yet, but we're running a 1.11.2 world.

We're running a whitelist until we get our plugins sorted, but feel free to ask to be added. Once we're fully backup, we'll be non-whitelist again.

So, if you want a pleasant, relaxed and a good place to play Minecraft, please join in. We're going to stick with no mcmmo or jobs or any of that kind of stuff. We're just gonna be what we used to be, a place where players can do their own thing, or join in with community builds.

Laters - ham

Edited to say we are now using the Jobs Reborn plugin and we are all working together to build an overworld rail track to join up various builds. See the last page on this thread for more info

Hi all. Seeing as the official OCUK minecraft server is no more I thought I would post up the server I've been playing on for the last 18 months or so.

The server has just updated to 1.9 and has had a brand new world. It's a survival mostly vanilla server that has a few plugins to help with gameplay. We have GriefPrevention for land claims, Lockette, TPA, uHome and a few others to enhance play. The world is currently set as PvP on. If you've been waiting to play multiplayer 1.9 then please feel free to jump on.

The server is not whitelisted. You can connect via minecraft.cooltable.org or 138.128.20.214 Here is the server's web page http://cooltable.org/minecraft

Maybe see some of you ig. Cheers

Popped on this morning for a quick look around, it would be nice to get back into Minecraft. Bearing in mind that I haven't played for quite a while (1.7), are the following things bugs, mods, rules, or features...

- I was unable to place a crafting table anywhere near spawn, including in the forest areas surrounding it. The spawn area has been claimed to prevent griefing - you'll need to travel about 100 blocks from it to place items/break stuff

- I couldn't chop down trees with a wooden pick-axe, but I could with fists or a stone pick-axe. The server has world edit, and the default tool is the wooden axe, as it's very rarely used. Unfortunately this means wooden axes can't be used.

- When using the stone pick-axe, chopping one trunk section cause the whole tree to break up instantly. We have a plugin called treeassist. It chops the tree down for you and your axe will degrade the correct amount for the logs chopped

- Has combat changed (seems like it takes more hits to kill mobs)? This is 1.9 related. Combat is much harder. You have a cool-down between hits now. If you try to hit before the cool-down you will inflict very little damage. Go into Options, the Video Settings then on the right column you'll see the attack indicator display button. It's off by default iirc. Turn it on and you can see the amount of time you have for the cool-down to complete. Skellies are a lot harder now too. They shoot quicker, move faster and back away from you.

Hi - glad you popped on. I've answered your questions for you. Be good to see you in game. Cheers. ham

Nice to see some of the linktart players coming on board!! If you want a friendly, decently staffed 1.9 server, then please, hop on! I'm building as fast as I can to help you with your creations ^_^
Come join in!

I've had a look. If you want to lock a chest the first line needs to be [private], then click done. Lockette will then add your name to line two, so the sign should then read:
[private]
m0linari
you must use the [ and the ] around the word private.

Also consider claiming your area with a golden shovel (GriefPrevention).

Stealing is allowed, but in this instance I've rolled back the theft, as you had tried to lock the chests. I'm now more interested in the player who found and looted them, as I had a bit of trouble locating your hidden chests myself, and the perp used COBBLE to replace the STONE they removed to get at your hidden chests. I wonder how they knew where they were.

All rolled back - Ham <3

edit - I've locked all your chests for you btw because I'm nice that like :)

Heh after a little bit of log checking and general awesomeness (I don't want to go into too much detail obvs), I know exactly how they found them. I'm going to ask them when they next come on which client mod they are using (I refuse to use the term 'hacked account' because these limp ****ed, prepubescent cheating scumbags couldn't 'hack' their way out of a wet paper bag!). Then bannage will follow.

Ah, I feel better after that. Cheaters always get found out in the end :'(

edit sigh, I guess it's time to start downloading the latest cheat mods, load them up and see if it's the same old **** -.- I cri

Hey hey Gaz how are you? Do it - jump on. And no, I can't we your cathedral in :p

There's a few other fellow linktart players on there too :)

Bought Minecraft at a LAN but never really played it, no idea where to start, any suggestions?

It's a totally sandbox game, although there are elements of things to do to 'beat' the game, such as defeat the Ender Dragon and kill a few Withers!

I used to only play single player, but that soon got boring and old, so I joined the Linktart server and had a great time. Unfortunately that server is no more, but the one I listed in the op is very much up and running.

Some players like building nice houses/structures, some players like collecting resources and selling them to other players, another option is redstone stuff to automate getting stuff.

To get an idea of things that can be done, have a look on the Hermitcraft website http://hermitcraft.com/ - there's loads of videos from players there that might give you an idea of what can be built.

Feel free to hop on the server I listed if you fancy multiplayer.

Cheers ham

Would you be ok if I joined? Name is Kainz.

Been playing MC pretty much since 2011 but then moved to FTB Minecraft (Modded) and it is pretty hard to switch back to vanilla. That said, I've restarted so many FTB worlds now that I'd like to see what vanilla is like again!

I feel I'm in for a world of pain :o

It was good to see you ig Kainz :)

never played minecraft online, might give this a try!

Feel free - it's open to all. Even though pvp is on, we're more co-op based :)

Cheers - ham

I can say the staff on this server are quite simply awesome and we have no thefts or griefing, plus there's a few coop builds already been completed with more to come.

The feel of the server is similar to Linktart (which was fantastic, and I had some great times on there, but was just too expensive for the few of us who were happy to donate). This is probably due in parts to the way the server is run, and we already have several ex Linktart players playing here.

Jump on - what's the worst that could happen :p

Right, i've been thinking of getting minecraft. I played it on PS4 but that is all, how much different is it on PC?

Do i need anything other than the base game to join this server?

Thanks, Rich.

Oh and where is the cheapest place to buy it?

Hiya. As far as I know the console editions are often a release behind the pc versions, so pc is on 1.9 and consoles are on 1.8. The nether is larger on pc, making the distanced travelled = 8:1 instead of 3:1 on console, so nether travelling/networks cover more ground. It also seems console edition worlds are limited to 5000x5000 blocks!!!! PC world is 60,000,000x60,000,000 blocks lol. This means biomes are much smaller on console.
.
For this server, all you need is the base game which is £18 direct from Mojang.

Cheers - Ham :)

I'm struggling in my current spot on the server and I can't really make any progress as a result. Either 1.9 has changed the spawn mechanism to allow mobs to spawn during daylight or the biome I'm in has issues. Either way, the moment I venture outside in daylight I either get arrowed to death, blown up to death or withered to death by a witch. These mobs shouldn't be there during daytime at all and they seem to linger around in open land after sunrise for longer than usual.

Kainz - I've got work today, but I'll try and pop on maybe later and have a look at your place. Do you have a home set there?

Cheers - ham

Kainz, I've run a few day/night cycles at your place and everything seems to be normal. I've seen no new mobs spawn in during daytime, but there are loads of trees around your build, meaning mobs that spawn during the night can easily find shelter during the day so as they don't catch fire, leaving you with a formidable army during the day!

Also to note, creepers and witches do not burn during the day, nor do skellies in armour, zombies in armour and baby zombies full stop. I think that lighting the area up to stop no mobs spawning during the night would help a lot. Check your upper chest - I've put some torches in there for you to light the surrounding area up, because I'm nice :p

I'm on for a bit tonight, and maybe later tomorrow (family gathering - more catering lol). Let me know how you get on. Cheers Trish/ham :)

I went on the other night for a bit and tried to go on tonight to realise my minecraft was updated past the server :(

If your client is set to use the latest release of MC, then yeah, as 1.10 is now out and we are on 1.9.4

We won't update until there is a stable spigot build, and our plugins are up to date, but even then I don't think we will update too soon, seeing as 1.9 has only been out 3 months, and the new update offers very little in terms of new stuff. One of their employees even said to not bother updating until 1.14 to get the best out of the upcoming updates. https://twitter.com/SeargeDP/status/738398048062218244 GG Mojang

Out of interest, what plugins and addons do you use on your server?

GriefPrevention for land claims, Lockette, uHome to set up to 3 homes (more if you donate), TPA to tp to other players (with their permission - no cooldown times for donators), NexusWarps, TreeAssist, Smileychat, Signcolours and coreprotect are the main ones, plus a few background ones like auto-restart etc. :)

Hey hey all - just a bump to update this thread. For a long while, the server owner, Toxicairevent had a plan to build a transcontinental railway to get players to join forces and work as a community. The idea was brought up again recently, and we have bene working to devise a way that this can happen.

We now have an economy plugin (Specifically Jobs Reborn). The idea is you can work to gather resources, or clearing out tunnels to earn money to buy stuff on the server. Ok ok, it's nothing new, but is a change from our normal vanilla style. See the main page on http://cooltable.org/ as this will explain in more detail than I can do here.

We are still a friendly server and we would like to expand and build our player base. Whilst we have no whitelist, be assured that griefers, cheaters and general chat trolls are swiftly dealt with. We also have robust plugins to protect from griefing (Grief Prevention) and obviously CoreProtect to find and rollback any issues. Our current playerbase is of a more mature age and the ig chat and community spirit reflect this.

Soo, after all that, if you would like to join us whilst we build the track, start building a career with the jobs plugin, or would like to play a bit of Minecraft multiplayer without worrying about griefers or immature chat, then why not join us and see if you like how we play? Hopefully see some of you in-game - laters :)
