New NFL Season 2011

Didn't Hillis also have a massive spat with the browns over his contract and wanted out or at the very least his agent did.

Unlike Forte who had issues with his contract last season but continued to give it his all when he was healthy for the Bears.

I would expect a big improvement from Hillis and he showed the season before he could play at a higher level.

Although looking at his stats could the 2010 season be a fluke as the first two seasons he did nothing much really considering the number of games he was active for.

At the very least you would be expecting a 1000 yds rushing season for 2012.

We lost Laron Landry :( Not the best in coverage, but loved to watch him play...

No doubt about it the dude has talent, he was a top 6th pick only 5 years ago and was a beast "Hitter" but week in week out you never knew how he was going to play or if he would play at all.

He won't have that all important Achilles op which has plagued him over the last 2 years.

Giving up multiple first downs and making those silly celebrations, I am not unhappy about letting him go.

Gomes, Doughty and Meriweather. Could use another FS

Peyton Manning, dealing with the Broncos.

5 years 95 million?? whoa!

Not sure how true that is yet but thats crazy.

hes there, not quite sure what denver are up to with a signing like that , guess its elway's influence as hes made it pretty clear in the past he didn't think tebow was up to the job.

edit:

$96m over 5 years but with clauses it seems :

According to ESPN, Manning will be paid $18 million in 2012, $20 million in 2013 and 2014 if he passes a team physical to be given 10 days before the start of the 2013 season. There is an injury waiver included in the contract covering Manning's neck. He is due to make $19 million in both 2015 and 2016, but must pass a physical before each league year.

Yeah they have a tonne of clauses in there (rightly so). Wonder where Tebow will end up, I'd love him to stay as a TE (still think hes no good as a QB).

Its an odd more for Denver though and a question for the GM, why go to a Tebow offence, unload your top WR(s) and then get Manning in and go to a vertical game again?

True but its kept him out for the best part of 2 seasons and if he aggravates it again hes gone.

Fair enough they have the back outs in the contract but they could still end up mid season without a QB if they injury flares up.

I'm also kind of surprised (but glad) Manning passed on the Niners though.

He had a superbowl team, with great targets and a solid D... Instead he chose an average Broncos side.

Glad he passed though because I like Smith and would love to see him lead the Niners to a ring.

Wow Roger Goodell dropped an A-Bomb on the Saints for their Bounty program.

Sean Payton suspended for full year without pay.
Saints assistant head coach Joe Vitt is suspended without pay for the first six games.
This year and next year 2nd round draft picks forfeited.
GM Mickey Loomis suspended for 8 games.
Greg Williams (Now of the rams) Suspended indefinitely.
Saints organisation fined $500k.

Individual player punishments have still to come.

to be honest it could have been worse. Still pretty bad but in the age of protecting players they were bound to come down hard on them.

I suspect other teams had similiar programs (although they have probably kept them quiet).

I think the saints will still be .500 team at the end of the season depending on the individual player punishments.

i'm surprised that the team was only fined 500k I would have expected more given the vast sums of money these teams make and if your going to make an example of them with all the suspensions then why not come down on them with a $10mil fine.

Again I wouldn't be surprised if other teams get out'd about similiar programs during the off season.

As for free agency it seems the pats are playing it safe again this year although no real depth has been added to the defensive side so it can only lead me to think that Bill must be planning on getting some good defensive talent through the draft unless he plans to horde draft picks like he seems to every year.

The bronco's getting rid of teebow in my eyes is a big mistake. I wish peyton all the best with the bronco's i just hope for them and the fans that he is able to give 100% and not tarnish a hall of fame career with a couple of terrible years like favre did.

They used a 1st round pick for Tebow, then trade him and a 7th away for a 4th and 6th?

Also, Manning missed almost 2 seasons? You'll have to remind me, I didn't think he missed the season before?

Thought he would stayed deep south, but a move to Denver is a puzzler. Almost as puzzling as Tebow to the Jets, cant wait to see him and Rex together.
