**** New Official DayZ Thread *****

vilayer is easy to setup, just take note of the mysql port. When you install Epoch after it will try to install to a different port so make sure you check the port otherwise you will have no DB (game port +1). They are a good choice imo for a first time setup. Some people have issues but hey it is like everything in life some do some don't. If you get a vilayer server running with a decent player base then you can upgrade to a dedi box like CPC and MGT.

yep for a start and learning basics its good idea as said build up players and structure then move to a dedi when comfortable.
 
We're running an arma 2 and TS server (but not dayz) with vilayer. Despite there being a fair amount of negativity around the web about vilayer, we've found them to be pretty decent, mostly good pings and ticket response is good. The main reason we went with them was because they were by far the cheapest (about 17 quid p/m for 30 slots and 20 slot TS). Based on our experience so far i would reccomend them
 
still no response from survival servers, have submitted multiple tickets, still no joy, why didnt i go with vilayer in the first place! argh

Due to popular demand, we have opened another DayZ Epoch server, but with a twist. We want to keep our DayZ Epoch Chernarus exclusive so have decided the new server will be on Taviana.

Taviana is over 3 times the size of Chernarus with traders dotted around the whole map. The map is split between 2 islands seperated by a long bridge.
Our current mods are Lift and Tow, Self Bloodbag, Fast Rope, Refuel and Repair points (marked on map)

Simply download Taviana.com (as well as Epoch if you don't have it) from DayZ Commander and open settings and paste in

-mod=@DayZ_Epoch;@Taviana

into the Additional Launch Parameters and that's it!

Add 188.165.250.119:4302 into your favourties on DayZ Commander and join by clicking.
It's as simple as that.
 
Actually when the designers say it is bigger then cherno they miss out the fact half of it is water. I do like Tav though one of my fav maps of all times. Been playing some vanilla, but I think I will jump on this later cause I love the map. Might be a bit small land wise for base building though.

Finally got around to watching the Frankie video of the base building!

Well impressed, had enough of Cherno until Standalone so this sounds great hope it get popular! Need to get old frankie on there so his mass of followers bombard it :D
 
I think that small command line is gunna really put people off, its why we went with a second chernarus server. You know as well as anyone people won't do anything extra heh.

I looked at all the tavi Epoch servers with players on, at the time the most was 6 so you're already winning with 9 (going by the banner) :D

There just isnt enough buildable covert places for bases on Tavi with its size and I'm pretty sure there is a bug with modular buildings. I know for some reason BB1.2 used to bug out on it and I think I read a similar thing about modular buildings.

Hopefully proved wrong though, let us know how it goes.

Did you link the databases?
 
id of gone with another chern server myself but tavi is more fun :cool:

thing like toejam says people don't want to do be adding lines or anything theyll just leave and go elsewhere. so it could effect numbers.

good luck with the server.

Nearly at 20 now, as long as Taviana.com is installed, its only that line, we went down that route instead of the Play with Six route, seems to work ok. No database link, completely seperate, fresh start.

Yeah if you can get Frankie onto it then you're sorted, it may inspire people to actually use command lines and such if they see their hero doing it.

I'd switch my command lines out to play different servers but theres only a minority that will.
 
It's buggy that Tav map. I sank through wooden steps to my death 5 mins before restart, and yeah, I had gold on me :-(
But hey ho, small price to pay for a new map to play.
