Don't listen to DG, every post ends with admin abuse and admin have best weapons. He must have been on a server once where it happened now he thinks everyone does it.
 
currency and trading wont but that's more a arma thing anyway all the best stuff is in though and all in one mod or game which is the vanilla. as for the admin abuse why you think they have done it if it doesn't happen ?:rolleyes:

that's the main reason all stuff is locked down.

The more skeptical among us would maybe ponder that they (DayZ SA owners) want all those donations for themselves in the form of, perhaps...purchasable bolt-ons.

Or maybe I'm completely wrong that Rocket actually hasn't got a massive ego and control issues, but rather is an incredibly ethical guy that delayed the release for our benefit.
 
I wish we made money from our server, It actually costs us a lot in time and cash, we do it because we enjoy it, not because it makes us money.

You have clearly had some kind of bad experience to give you this tainted view of private hive servers/owners, which is a shame.

I can't see vanilla dayz catching up with epoch any time soon TBH, there are just to many awesome feature with Epoch, nothing else comes close dayz wise IMO.

You should all come and check out our server anyhow. :D

Is the full on fun angle pulling in the punters, Neil?

I'd like to try (as I've said loads previously) a super hardcore version which offers what one would expect to find on a former Soviet Replublic state. Yeah, on a hardcore server I'd rather ladas over SUVs and lee Enfields over AS50s.

If your Schwarzenegger style server doesn't pull 'em in and you fancy a bash at trying a super hardcore version, let me know as I'd certainly give it a go.

I still love playing with others on the standard servers, it's just sometimes when there's nobody to team with, a PvE biased server is just the ticket.
 
I know what you mean about the back to basics aspect, it is kind of appealing sometimes, but I am rather enjoying the extreme PVP vibe we have going on currently. :D

We have nerfed the spawn loadout a lot so there is still much to play for loot wise, with the ultimate prize being the AS50's available at the hero/bandit camps (scoped at bandit TWS at hero, both costing 1 briefcase each).

At the moment the server is doing pretty well for saying its not that old. We had 30+ players online for most of the day yesterday and it peaked at about 56 which we are very pleased with. When we were running a vanilla Epoch server we were lucky to get 5 players online at any one time. The changes we have made seem to appeal to the bloodthirsty players out there so for now its Rambo or bust. :D
 
Good on you Neil, I hope it remains a success for you.

My idea for an ultra hardcore version won't be popular among the masses, but it would, I imagine, have a niche following. There's already PvE servers out there.

It's strange actually how I came to long for such a server, because in the standard servers I'm a hoarder of elite weapons. I love 'em I do, but I've found I equally enjoy the process of kitting up again after I've died.

I also enjoy having a far away destination to reach; finding a battered car which needs repairs to help me with my journey is great. Finding the parts and fixing it gives a great amount of satisfaction, particularly so early on in my time on Epoch/DayZ.

Don't have any problems with a FULL server, however I might be inclined to agree with you more regarding vehicles :)

The problem is more than likely due to no auto restarts at the moment. Running the server under linux is a bit of a pain to set BEC up. It's usually fine the first 2 hours after a restart.

Hopefully upgrading to Windows once we get the new server ordered mid October. Hopefully then we can have BEC restarting every 2 or 3 hours.

Nice, your server is doing pretty well man, just a shame it's near impossible to get on. I can't even remember my loadout there.
Didn't realise you were on OVH too, which box are you using to run 3 servers?
 
lol just watched the frankie video and someone faked my name at the end AHAHAHAHAHA . did die earlier in video after a epic battle (not in video) where i killed some dmr guys with my enfield but whoever faked me loool :p

kezza wouldn't pick me up in heli. guess i should have come ts :p
