New PC Final List ( Hopefully )

Firstly thank you for all the trouble you have gone to compiling the list above.
Has the question about Corsair vs Kingston, why do you mention the choice of Corsair being made simply because of price. Is the Kingston better ? if so what about this below.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-094-KS

theres really no difference between them, thats why i (and most people on overclockers) just suggest whats cheapest. today it happens to be corsair

The other thing is the second optical drive. Someone earlier mentioned the second optical drive wasn't needed as the BluRay optical drive does everything the other does so why have both. What do you think.
i honestly thought you'd got the 2nd DVD drive because you would be copying straight from one DVD to another. blu ray drives arent quite as fast as dedicated DVD drives at burning DVD's, but theres really not a lot of difference so its best to save the £17

Also another poster said I might need a more powerful PSU, 900watt.
as youve already seen, ive recommended the 900W one now as its nice to have some headroom

And they mentioned about the 2 Graphics cards you recommended may not have enough memory, again your thoughts please.
sadly i really havent a clue on this one. its probably best to ask in the graphics card section

So I'll stick with the Corsair RAM then. Happy about that really, I had Corsair RAM in my last PC.

I think I'll stick with the second Optical Drive, I may need it, like you say for disc to disc copying, and it's not expensive so why not have it.

Also like you suggest, I'll ask in the Graphics Card section for advice on the memory and SLi with triple monitors.

You have all been brilliant up to now and I can't thank you all enough.:)

i would give an alternative if you werent interested in the 3D (some people with 3D setups find it too gimmicy and have reverted back to 2D), but the cheapest 60Hz monitor is only about £10 less, so i would take the 120Hz ones as they improve fast paced games even in 2D mode

I am really happy with the choice of these 120hz monitors. One question I have not asked is, when you have a 3 monitor setup, do the two outer monitors have the be at an angle to the centre monitor. If so, is there an angle that is suggested or does it not matter. Also when you are doing normal work on the pc, word processor and browsing, that sort of thing, is it just on the centre monitor and is the 3 monitor setup only used for gaming or can you watch movies spread across the 3 screens. Sorry if this question is a little vague, but I have never seen a 3 monitor setup in real life, only on pictures. Also if I can, I want to put my Dual Tuner DVB-T TV PCI Card in the pc, will it work ok, as it did in my previous pc.

Hi Stulid.

I have been waiting for your recommendations, So you think to change the HDD would be a good idea. Also what do you mean when you say the case is unique.

Do OcUK ship out part orders if items aren't in stock or do they hold the order back until everything is available?

If they hold the order back you might not want to order the Boogie Bug as it could be a long time before it comes back into stock.

Perhaps someone knows the answer as I've never ordered out of stock items.

This seems to be pretty close to what people are recommending between them. Comments please.

There's no point in editing your old posts as the thread won't get bumped and the chances of anyone seeing your new information is reduced.

There you go, a free bump ;)

And note what I said above about ordering out of stock items.

Sorry i didn't post back last night as i went to bed after my my last post about prawn sandwiches.

I didn't know about the hitachi hard drive failures so as stulid says go for a samsung F4 if it is just going to be for storage/films/music. It is an ecogreen drive so isn't as fast as a 7200rpm drive as it spins at 5400rpm (i have just bought a samsung F3 1Gb and seems to be great but i have another 2 500Gb drives so didn't need a 2Tb drive).

The boogie bug Aimb mouse mat is also extremely large (around 1m x 1/2m) and of course is out of stock. Mouse mats are something you really should decide on yourself as only you will know what size and type you require.

I also had a little look at a review of the saphire 6950 FLEX last night and while it seems to be the only Ati card that will run 3 monitors without the need for any adaptors they, for some reason tend to use more power but other than that they seem to run fine and they have a vapour-x cooler. Here is a snippet of the review.

Spending £200-plus on a graphics card will give you a healthy dollop of performance. It doesn't really matter who manufactures the GPU, because the Radeon HD 6950 2GB or GeForce GTX 560 Ti 1GB are both solid performers. In fact, we recommend the duo.

And while both cards provide a smooth gaming experience when using a full-HD monitor, NVIDIA and AMD have been at pains to explain that their respective GPUs can do so much more.

Sapphire has taken a Radeon HD 6950 2GB card and given it a boost by providing two company-specific features: Vapor-X cooling and FleX Eyefinity connectivity. The heatsink has a proven lineage in keeping hot-running GPUs at low-ish temperatures and, while the power-draw is strangely high, the cooler does a good job.

AMD talks a good game for multi-monitor Eyefinity usage but has dropped the ball by not providing out-of-the-box connectivity when running three screens from the twin DVI ports and HDMI connector. Sapphire adds in extra circuitry to the FleX card and enables three DVI-equipped monitors - which are, we believe, the most pervasive flat-panel computer screens in circulation - to be connected with the minimum of fuss.

Radeon HD 6950 2GB has enough oomph to enable three-screen gaming - either through a trio of 1,680x1,050 or 1,920x1,080 monitors - to be run with quality presets. Expensive graphics cards need compelling reasons for purchase; Sapphire provides just that with the £225 Radeon HD 6950 2GB FleX. Recommended.

The Good

Vapor-X cooling works well
FleX technology makes a lot of implicit sense
Small-ish price premium over bog-standard cards

The Bad

Power-draw is, inexplicably, higher than expected
