New pc time

Well I've had confirmation from Overclockers team that the cooler master masterliquid lite 240 is compatible with AM5, so thats that sorted.

Now just to look at monitors ? How good are curved ones for gaming ? Or is it down to personal preference
Personal prefrence .

It does take a little while to adjust but many prefer it, maybe go an physically look to decide if you can.

Most 1440p monitors start at 27 inch you got a budget ?

been looking at monitors and need to pop at weekend and look at curved screens, see how i feel about them.

Thats given me some more time to think about this pc build, the more i think. I am unsure whether jumping into AM5 is the right thing for me, am unlikely to upgrade for a fair few years if i decide to do so. So am starting to think, if am happy to pay around the £1350 mark, am i better in changing the graphics card to a 6800xt, and going back to AM4 to help finance that move.

My thinking is that with a better performing card for flight sim, then am prob going be more unlikely to be keen to upgrade.

So am about to pull the trigger after with this build after finally getting everything sorted but noticed a few things are out of stock or preorder so will need to change them.

With that in mind i have a few more questions for you wonderful guys to share your knowledge and expertise please.

below is the build

Looks like a decent PSU and comes with an SFX to ATX bracket, but buy an SFX PSU for a normal case? Uhm, it is unusual and I probably wouldn't, because e.g. the PSU is more compact, with a smaller fan and less cooling space. You could look at the Thermaltake GF1 (review) or EVGA G6 (review)? I think those can be found in stock and reasonably priced.

I'd have no worries at all about buying a Nitro, but I have no idea what the "special edition" has that makes it special.

Motherboard: I'd just get the next least expensive, which is the B650M DS3H, or the B650-PLUS. If you want to save the money on your budget, drop the 7600X to a 7600 non-X.

thanks for the info, i've managed to find the

Thermaltake Toughpower GF1 850 Watt Full Modular 80+ Gold Performance Silent PSU/Power Supply at £99.98 in stock somewhere.

motherboard, am guessing either Asus Prime B650-Plus (Socket AM5) DDR5 ATX Motherboard or Gigabyte B650M DS3H (Socket AM5) DDR5 Micro ATX Motherboard will do then. both in stock at the next lowest price.

i personally can't see much difference between the 2 gpu's so think i might stick with the powercooler option, plus it has a 3 year warranty.

think i've finally come round to the increased budget cost now, and ive managed to talk the misses round lol.

still looking at motherboards and feel like i've watched that many review videos it's frazzled my brain.
Would something like MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI Motherboard be a good option, as can pick one up for around £220 ?

If you're looking at at 6800xt for £690, I'd look at a 4070ti for just over £800. For flight sim, single person games dlss3 meant to make playing games a lot smoother..also at 1440, gives you a lot more performance...if you plan on keeping for another 10 yrs.
As for mobo, b650 tomahawk is a good board..its more than enough for your needs. The gpu slot is pcie4 but a 4090 is fine for pcie4, and has 3 m.2 nvme slots...
Just had to re read thread...been going on awhile
Regarding monitors...most curved are va panels...will give you deeper blacks but in fast paced games can lead to some smearing issues...IPS are generally plat, better response and colours with wider viewing angles, but poor contrast

Yeah, the thread has deffo been going awhile. Although i think i am just about sorted and ready to order

the 6800xt am looking at has dropped now in price to below £600. So think i'll stick to that as am already stretching my budget as it is.

My only last concern now is the case, BitFenix Nova Mesh A-RGB Midi-Tower Case. it supports a gpu upto 360mm, and the 6800xt is 320mm technically it'll fit. But is there any need to be concerned as that doesn't leave much space ?

Should be fine as long as your not putting an aio cooler in the front, 40mm clearance is enough.

If your unsure change it.

Believe the case allowed the aio cooler on the top.

Been honest, did have a look at other cases. But not sure whats a good option to go for. Dont mind spending a little more.

The P400 case take a gpu up to 420mm so plenty of room, the white one comes with a free vertical gpu mounting kit.

Take s look at some cases yourself see if anything you prefer.

My basket at OcUK:
Total: £200.68 (includes delivery: £14.70)

I had been looking at the phanteks eclipse p400 and the G360a already as alternatives. Both caught my eye.

Although, from what I can see. Not sure if the p400 can fit a 240mm aio in the top ?

My apologies.

Totally missed that doesn't look like it top mounts the aio it just supports 2 fans instead.

well think i am finally sorted and ready to purchase.
Heres the final (hopefully) build list.

well you'll be glad to now everything is ordered and on it's way. Only thing i changed from above is the monitor, as the Benq went up in price. So went for the Msi Artymis 323cqr which seems to get good reviews. But worse case, i hate it send it back and look for something else.

Seems to have been a very long 1 year and 4 months. But i will like to thank @Tetras @Craig_d1 and @mickyflinn you've all been great with your helpful input and also your patience in helping me choose.

now, time to watch some build videos :-)
