New Project Help - Please

Hi

Having done my first WC build recently, I have done a lot of the research you are currently doing, obviously I'm no expert, but from what I found

Theres no real benefit for going for 2 loops, unless its aesthetics and youre wanting 2 different colour liquids, the pumps are powerful enough nowadays to be able to handle all things in one loop, and the temp difference isnt worth the extra outlay

For your case, Id highly recommend getting one which is designed to take WCing from the off, and doesnt need modding, as its a) easier and b) cheaper

The angle fittings (45&90) are here

And yes, Cleecoos spec is very good starting point, you can obv customise it as you like, eg the equivalent CPU block would be this

I doubt theyd be the best either tbh, Scythe Gentle Typhoons are whats generally recommended, though I went for Akasa Apache Blacks personally, start with a decent fan, you can always add an LED strip behind them or something to give you the visual effect after

OcUK replied to my mail saying there are no blocks but didn't tell me if the OcUK card is reference or not.. so I have mailed them again to try find out. This is annoying, the Twin FROZR is a very popular card but theres no custom block for it

Are we allowed to sell second hand hardware on here?

Yes, but you need access to the members market, which you dont have yet, check the FAQ

It is a nice case, very nice, but mine has had a lot of modding, it cant take any rads without modding

The G1/4 is the thread size, which pretty much all components use now (think the Thermochill rads used to be something diffferent) the 7/16 is the hose size, but its more precise than that as when using compression fittings you need both the inner diameter and outer diameter, if you see on the EK ones, theyre 7/16 ID and 3/8 OD so you need to make sure the hose is exactly same, as you get some 7/16 ID hose with a different OD

@WJA96
What res did you use for a dual loop? Does any res work as long as it has 2 ins and 2 outs? Any special considerations?
I think he used the EK advanced tube res

@kyiiyzo
No budget, if I spend £50 or £250 on a case I don't care as long it's worth it.... Same applies to the other components, there is always a point where the extra money doesn't warrant itself with the reward

@cleeecooo
Cool thanks for that
I'll swap the compression fittings for nickel
I doubt very much a 360 will fit into whatever case I choose, I suspect I will have to go for 120+240
it'll fit in a xigmatek elysium
Are there things which create 90 degree turns in the tubing? To avoid kinks? In nickel?
I don't like the look of the CPU block much is there one with more nickel?
XSPC Raystorm?Swiftech apogee? I prefer the nickel approach than black if you haven't noticed yet :)
Love the lamptron!
I like the res, is there one that looks like that which is capable of two loops?
Last thing is about the fans, I love the coolermaster ones with the soft LED strips... Looking at the price I doubt that are very good?

Go for Xigmatek bluelines instead maybe?

You can mod scythe gentle typhoons to have LED's.

Hi

this is 100% correct
dual loops can look fantastic with 2 different colours running through a dual res but its aesthetics only and you would need a decent size case to house it all.....i would keep this for a future build best to walk before you can run :)
if you did still want to go for it do lots of research first and of course everybody in here will help you.

I want to run a i5 2500k

I have tried cross referencing the mobo coolers on coolingconfigurator against the chip set and supported sockets but it's proving a nightmare on this phone

Can someone recommend a motherboard which EK have a nickel full mobo block for

Also I hear there is a new 2500K coming out next year, what chipset will this be?

Actually I just found the bit on the site where you can choose the chipset, seems there are only two z68 boards asus maximus and gigabyte ga p67a

Don't bother cooling the mobo. It's pointless.

The rampage 3 board has a nickel plexi block for it but I don't think it has full nickel.

I do realise that its pointless, but I wanna do it, mainly... well.. cos I can... if you know what I mean? :)

I know exactly what you mean :p

cleeecooo can't talk when it comes to buying waterblocks just because they look cool :)

lol, but I was saying its pointless, which it is, but if someone's doing it for e peen or simply for looks, then that's their choice :p

thanks

Im gonna get the Corsair 650D. A 200mm rad fits here perfectly... any suggestions on a good 200mm rad?

Also, looking at 240's for the top.. Cleeecooo suggested the Hardware labs black ice 360... Im looking at the similar 240

I see two types though...

Hardware Labs Black ICE SR-1 240 Radiator
and
Hardware Labs Black ICE GT Stealth 240 Radiator

the stealth is pretty much half the price, so I presume its not as good...

whats wrong with it? Im not trying to save money here just curious
