New PS3 exclusive will be announced on the 10th - lastofus.com

What those using the 'meh, zombies' statement are overlooking is that a large part of this game seems also to be fighting other survivors. This could be enough of a twist on the usual mechanic to make it interesting again.

Woh, this thread is just full of trolls! haha, Not seen this in ages, I thought most people had grown out of this sort of thing. I'm a big Naughty Dog fan, And I love the uncharted series. What that has to do with what other games are on PS3, I do not know. But hey, Baters gonna bate.

See what I did there... ;) And Noel you were being an Epic Bater right there, A Master bater...If you will.

ON TOPIC.... I like the look of this, Gave me a Manhunt vibe which is very strange lol. Seems there will be zombies, But hell. So what. Its an apocalypse game, They will no doubt be 1 of many enemies. Fallout had Feral Ghouls. Would you not consider those to be zombies? And fallout 3 isnt exactly a zombie game

Hmmm, blasted near future city scape, grizzled man and young girl buddy act, Nathan Drake clambering all over the scenery in previous Naughty Dog games.

Anyone else think there might be big dollops of Enslaved in this. That would make me happy. I played that game start to finish in three days :)

The first Uncharted had its fair share of bugs if I remember rightly. Certainly I remember getting to one part of the game for it to completely freeze and I couldn't progress any further on that save. I'm sure it was fixed, but it wasn't a totally smooth experience.

U2 was very, very good from start to finish however.

I do believe that bug was a result of a firmware update rather than Uncharted itself. So not really the developers at fault. Although as you said it was fixed.

I found Uncharted 2 surprising buggy playing it recently for the first time even with the latest patch installed. I couple of times the level/map went transparent one was maybe avoidable, but should have been clipped off the other one was at the end of a huge set piece totally unavoidable. It didn't really stop me enjoying it too much though.

An excellent article by Eurogamer http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-12-13-the-last-of-us-preview. Also talks about how it came close to being leaked on a couple of occssions and some other bits.

Contrary to evidence in the trailer, however, The Last of Us is "not a zombie game," insists Straley. Druckmann explains: "If the game was about the monsters, we would have not showed them. The story's not about them, so [we thought] let's get it out of the way."

"We approached this genre because we felt no-one is getting to the heart of it. [The Last of Us] tells you something about the human condition - that's what you want to do as a storyteller."
With that in mind, imagine the shockwaves that reverberated around the Naughty Dog office when they saw that Dead Island trailer.
"We saw it and we thought, wait a minute, someone else is doing this - it's really moving, there's this family that's been torn apart," says Druckmann. But, as we now know, it bore little relation to the finished article.
"You saw the game and it wasn't that," he adds. "I'm not saying whether it was a good or bad game, but it wasn't that. And we feel our trailer is very representative of what we're going for." Not least because the footage is all in-engine.

"Over the years we've staffed up an incredible team - these people at any other studio could be leads," says studio boss Evan Wells. "When you have a franchise like Uncharted you become a target for headhunters and recruiters - basically everybody in the company's been asked if they'd like to come some place else.

"We were afraid that if we didn't give these people the opportunity and the responsibility to try something different in their career, one day one of those calls might stick. So really we just wanted to embrace the talent we have here and give it a shot."

When the fruits of this labour of love will be shared with gamers, no-one is saying. And, in the wake of the brutal crunch endured by the Uncharted 3 team in order to meet a release date it recklessly announced a year in advance, that should come as no surprise.
"We will never do that again, not a year out," sighs co-president Christophe Balestra. Wells agrees: "The minute we saw [the date] on screen we were like, oh god, I really regret that."
So, while the game has already been in development for two years, with the team not yet ready even to discuss gameplay let alone show it, don't be surprised if The Last of Us fails to materialise before 2013. It'll be done when it's done, as the saying goes.

never found any of the uncharteds to be buggy so dont know what some people are on about, the quality and polish from the developer is more than you get from most!

there were some nice exclusives this yea but this looks to be something special! a few friends are now buying ps3's for the back catalogue and this future release!

looks awesome :)

Does make for interesting reading.

It's a bit like The Walking Dead. So many people moan about the lack of zombies, but it's really not about the zombies (despite the name) but how utterly terrible humans can be when it's a 'do or die' situation.

I get the impression this game is about the survival of the humans in relation to their environment and other humans... it just so happens there's some nasty infected baddies to crank up the danger!

I like the quote from that link about that Dead Island trailer. I was so gutted that the game was nothing like that, so if Naughty Dog are trying to capture that (and succeed) I shall be very happy indeed =D
