** NEW SAMSUNG 750D & 950D True 120Hz LED Monitors - PRE-ORDER! **

Westie - that first pic makes me cry @ the reflection of your very dark room with the blinds seeping light through at what must be dusk time and overpowering the brightness of the monitor :(

You mean the first picture on this post http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=20852659&postcount=1286? Am I missing the sarcasm? There is no reflection visible in that picture. Unless you are mistaking some elements of his desktop background for reflection. With no reference to the brightness he has the monitor set to and taking into account the fact that his camera will adjust the exposure I don't see the complaint.

It does take some getting used to, but once you do there is no going back - in my opinion anyway.

It's hard to describe why the glossy coating has its benefits. I suppose my argument for that is it is the closest to CRT any display using LCD/LED tech can get to, (except for Plasma) that is currently available. It isn't quite the same as a CRT, but if anyone seeking something similar then this would be it. Saying that, I don't want to push people into buying the wrong thing either, so the best thing to do is to have a look at other glossy coated displays such as TVs in shops and judge for yourself. Remember though it all looks very different based on the location of light in the room. Mine is pretty good, which is why my HP screen (which was also glossy) lasted so long as my main monitor.

PCM, I tried the older non-beta driver and I don't think it has changed/fixed anything. I thought it did at first but I think that was a placebo affect on my eyes. 100hz definitely is maybe a little bit smoother in some things. I do get the feeling this is a problem with my GPU.:( I will try my AMD 6870 which I've had stored away in my desk drawer, and see if that makes any difference. The bonus is I will get to see some of the other 3D options using the AMD 6870, if only temporary. I'm also curious to see if there is a difference in colour profile within windows between AMD and Nvidia.

Oh :(. Well I would also be curious as to differences in colour between the AMD and Nvidia solution. If it's not too much hassle could you also set it up without any ICC profile and set 'MagicAngle' to 'GroupView' (don't adjust the contrast from the default)? And regarding the glossy surface - as I said in my previous post I'm not sure what picture he is referring to. I have also shown in my review and explained further in the matte vs. glossy monitor article that the Samsung Ultra Clear Panel is one of the best anti-reflective surfaces you can get. Yup it's still very glossy but it's still much better than anything other manufacturers have currently come up with that is also 'glossy'. It reflects less and suffers much less from bleaching and suchlike.

I hope you're joking?!

You cannot see the horizontal slat blinds in the monitor's reflection?! They occupy about 1/3 of the screen space.

Oh THOSE - nah can't see them (must be the wine). Yeah I wouldn't take something like that at face value. I don't really see that as a problem in this particular instance. Having seen these and used them first hand I know that any light directly hitting the screen surface will be a problem - but when it is at that kind of level it is trivial. It's the same with any glossy screen though - I'm not trying to sell you anything here, but Samsung's UCP fairs much better than most. Again I don't doubt that he had the monitor at a much lower luminance setting than maximum and to be honest it's a lot easier to focus on that on a picture than in reality. Ask the guy who took the photo - do you think he saw that as a problem when he was using the monitor?

That picture your talking about was taken when i first installed the 950 didn't change anything that's straight out of the box settings I soon changed it to the settings pcm uses in his 750 review and the picture quality is amazing! And as for the reflections I dont game in the day as I'm asleep due to being a night worker so only time I play its in a room which is either pitch black or with my UV light on and its perfect!

One of the best PC purchases I've made in 17 years of gaming!

Got my SA950D last night cheaper. Ordered Friday Midnight got it Monday 9:00am.

Not fully cablirated it yet just used PCM cabliration for now with a slight mod of increasing brightness by 3-4.
Tonight my plan is to setup my Spider3Ellite & calbrate this & my HP LP2475w again.
annying thing is i lost my suction cup for it so im going to have to hold it in the middle of the screen for the whole test. which hurts your arm holding it in a weird position :(

here is a few pictures: (D60)

smogsy have you got a picture with the monitor turned off, but lights on in your room, I'd like to see how reflective the screen is when turned off.

I've also hears the 950 is dropping in price as well.

Just to let you know I will try what you have suggested, but I'm in the middle of deciding whether to replace my 570 altogether with an AMD GPU so that I can get the full benefit of the screen. I'm in two minds about it though at the moment, as my 570 has done a fine job so far - it's just unnecessary hassle replacing it and selling it on and losing more money in the process. I need to weigh up the pros and cons of doing such a move, and whether I am better off going for a futureproof option or merely finding the cheapest and nearest AMD equivalent of the 570.

This would all be so be so much easier if the screen was Nvidia 3D vision enabled, then I wouldn't feel bad for having an excellent screen in both 2D and 3D that is only unlocked to its full potential with an AMD card.:(:p

Guys you CAN use NV 3D vision with these screens. You can use the screen, and glasses with an NV card with no extra hardware. There is a 3D Vision hack which does work. It took me a while to get it running (my fault), but once setup it works fine.

Hey mate i know you sent me an email regarding the 3D Vision hack, sorry i've not replied yet but i've been really busy lately. I'll make an effort to get back to you this weekend mate, so hold on to try the hack before you sell that lovely 570 ;)
