** NEW SAMSUNG ODYSSEY G7/G9 MONITORS 27-49" AVAILABLE TO PRE-ORDER **

The clicking noise doesn't seem to have been addressed and my monitor has this, but no other issues.
I guess there's still a lottery on things like dead pixels.

The other limitation is that in 240Hz you can't really run resolutions other than full res and some odd low resolutions, so if you want to drop down to 16:9 you need to change to 120Hz mode. Not sure why this is but seems to be a firmware limitation as everyone's got it.

I'm on my second as my first had 1 dead pixel. I think dead pixels are a risk with anything and not specific to these. Didn't have the popping sound with either.
You can tell that they are making subtle changes, as for example the mount in my 2nd screen came with the 4 screws 'preinstalled'. On the first one they didn't and they were a real pain to locate in the back of the screen properly.

The only issue I'm having with mine is the so called 'scan line' issue. It doesn't bother me as you have to go out of your way to recreate it and you don't see it in normal use.
It would be really nice to confirm if every display has it or not.

Scanline issue is discussed here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ultrawidem...samsung_odyssey_g9_horizontal_linesscan_line/

The ROG wallpaper page always causes this to kick in, unless you have your black equaliser set too high, as this gets rid of the fine detail that causes it.

This is a good video showing what happens, along with the brightness change:

Just checking, did you use the right USB port? Only one of them supports firmware updating.

Also there are many reports that say to make sure the screen isn't plugged into the pc via USB. This upsets the process.
My upgrade was fine, just using a random old 32GB stick that already had loads of stuff on it. Just copied the IMG file over, put it in the service port and upgraded through OSD. Only took a minute or so.

Can anyone help me with this, just set up my G9 got it at 120Hz with adaptive sync and Gsync on but getting a horrible flicker updated to 1008 and using latest nvidia drivers card is a 3070.

If I drop to 60hz with adaptive sync off the flicker does not happen

Received my G9 last week, and can honestly say I'm blown away by this screen... perfect for my work and gaming.
Seems I've got a good specemin too... no noises, or dead pixels etc.

Have to add that I was a right ding dong, and thought that the little light lens/shade thing on the back was broken on delivery, but Customer Support put me right and I now feel stupid and elated all at the same time.
* the stupidity is all mine, nothing support did other than to politely correct my ways.

Got my Samsung G9 for £989, chuffed to bits.

Mounted it using the hack allot on reddit do, so have a Amazon Basics dual stand. Taken off arms and taken off bracket and tilt mechanism from G9 stand. Then bolted it on. Works a treat and solid as a rock.

Also have 34" Iiyama Ultrawide 1440p 144hz IPS up top on a separate mount.

Thanks for posting that photo as it gives me a better idea of how it sits on a desk than the marketing ones. The Samsung spec shows that with the OE stand the sides would come about 42cm away from the wall. My desk is only 68cm deep so it has remained a concern. It appears that your desk is a lot deeper than mine, but it also appears that with your stand the sides of the monitor are much nearer the wall. Would you be kind enough to measure the distance for me?

This looks wonderful! Is your Iiyama mount desk or wall based?

Been thinking of doing the same with my setup (32+34) but unsure the desk mount would go that high

USB - I used a 32gb Transend USB 3.0 thumbdrive, my older usb's didnt work
So for anyone seeking to find "the USB stick" to use for firmware updates, please read this first, because this is really odd...

Back in August, I recieved an N6 S/N G9. I tried it with my 32GB Sandisk Ultra USB 3.0 thumbdrive and no matter how I formatted it as FAT32 (i.e. using differing block sizes, bootable vs non-bootable etc), the N6 G9 would not detect the firmware image file that I placed on it. So I read around on the internet and found that people were saying that the thumdrive needed to be 4GB or less and USB 2.0, not USB 3.0 in order for it to work. So I ordered a random 4GB USB 2.0 thumbdrive (a Gigastone 4GB). Formatted it as FAT32 (non-bootable, but don't remember the block size that I used), copied on the 1005.4 firmware image (the latest image at the time), plugged it in to the service port of the monitor and it worked fantastically, the monitor detected the firmware and I was able to update. Great.

Role on a few months, after sending back the N6, N8 and now the N9 models that I had received (because they all had different problems), I have now received an NA model. "This one seems like the one!" I excitedly thought to myself as I tested it out and found that it didn't have the issues that my prior G9 attempts had. I had noticed that it has a little more backlight bleed than I'd like, but it's not bad - I'm probably being pedantic to be honest. The only thing is, it was flickering like crazy in certain scenes, but I'd read that firmware 1008.1 in conjunction with the latest Nvidia driver should hopefully fix that, so I reached for the 4GB Gigastone thumbdrive, deleted the 1005.4 firmware image (that was still on there since updating the N6)..... and copied on the 1008.1 firmware image, plugged it in the service port and nothing, the NA S/N model couldn't detect the firmware. "Uh oh, that's not good" I thought to myself. I then tried reformatting the drive as FAT32 multiple ways (e.g. trying different block sizes) and then copying the firmware onto it, but no matter what I did, the NA S/N monitor would not detect the 1008.1 firmware image. At this point I was starting to feel depressed, I'd finally recieved a G9 that was looking great, but it wouldn't update! In desparation, I grabbed the 32GB Sandisk Ultra USB 3.0 thumbdrive that wouldn't work with the N6 S/N model (no matter what I did), deleted the 1005.4 firmware that was still sitting on it, simply copied on the 1008.1 firmware image, plugged it into the service port, and much to my surprise and delight, the monitor detected the firmware and updated. I then installed the latest Nvidia driver (460.79) and the flickering issues had disappeared!

So, in short, the thumdrive that worked on the N6 G9, didn't work on the NA G9. Conversely, the thumbdrive that worked on the NA G9 wouldn't work on the N6 G9. So I'm guessing that either the hardware has changed between the N6 and NA G9, or more likely, the sticks that work, depend on the revision of the firmware you are using, which if true, is crazy.

Just check as Adaptive Sync and VRR control are 2 separate options in the OSD, the latter can be found right at the end of the system section.
Ahhh, you are a star! I'm not sure why, but VRR was off, I just turned it on and it's looking like the flickering has stopped. Thank you so much! :)

Edit: I think I know what happened. Last night I had a play session and it was flicker free, but afterwards in an attempt to figure out why the monitor wasn't coming on automatically when I turn my computer on in the morning, I reset the monitor to default values and that must have disabled VRR. Resetting it didn't fix the issue of it not turning on in the morning, but setting setting the "Off Timer" to "off" did. Anyway, when I started up a game tonight, it was flickering like crazy and I couldn't understand out how it was that it was stable last night and not tonight. I had no idea that there was a VRR setting in addition to Adaptive Sync! Anyway, once again Coolasmoo, thank you very much - I've just had a 10 minute play and not seen a single flicker and all has been buttery smooth! :)

I've been scouring this thread for something on this and im not sure if its just a settings thing or not. I have the Samsung G7 32inch everytime I switch on adaptive sync all the colours look extremely washed out and when transitioning between one screen and another everything goes ultra washed out to the point you can barely make out the details for a plit second. The second I turn off adaptive sync it looks great.

My settings below
240hz 15 black equalizer low input lag on bightness 39 comtrast 75 sharpness 60 49R50G50B gamma mode 1 pip/pbp mode off local dimming auto dynamic brightness off display port 1.4
Version 1009.3

Feel like I've tried everything, does it sound like I have a bad panel. Never noticed any flickering at all but the washed out colours are unbearable my 14 year old lg monitor looks better
