New Sky Broadband and the headache begins

Here's the stats from my router, seems like it may be capped at 4mbit.

I can confirm what I posted to be 100% accurate, as I haven't long undertaken Sky BB myself.

After the DLM period is over (roughly 14 days from activation), you can call them up and ask them to manually adjust the line. (Request the "Gaming" profile, if you want low pings)

For example. I started at 4096/800 when I started, then I was set to 6240kbps after DLM finished, but had a 10dB margin.. called them up and asked if they'd re-profile my line. Now set to 7500kbps and have turned off DLM.

FYI: Sky's default SNR is 7.0dB.

If you don't want to wait for DLM to finish, phone them and ask for the line to be manually configured.

They can switch DLM off, sort the line configuration and then switch DLM back on again.

I actually did this because DLM never ran on my line. I was only estimated 3.5Mb and so when I called and asked about DLM they said "Ok, it'll take 2 weeks".. to which I replied "Yes, but I can't cancel after 7 days if I'm not happy?".. to which they just manually configured the line and left it at that :)

Based on an attenuation of 17.5dB you should get well over 10Mbit on ADSL2+, more like the full 20Mbit. The SNR of 16.5 dB is a tad low though to achieve this and my guess would have you at around 8 post DLM. Is your internal phone wiring good? Try connecting directly to the master socket and compare the SNR and attenuation figures.

I wonder if Sky have put you on g.dmt rather than g.992.5.

Yes, before DLM begins you start on G.DMT, then move to ADSL2+.

According to http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/max_speed_calc.php you'll sync at above 20Mb if you have that attenuation with a health noise margin.
