New SkyQ offer for NEW Customers

So just had the sky "engineer" round to install sky Q. I notified Sky when ordering that I already had a freesat dish on the roof of the house.

He comes round, says "Oh I can't go up on the roof, not allowed. Can't install it for you"

I call up Sky to find out why this wasn't planned for when they were clearly notified 8 days ago about this and I get given a new install date: 30 Sep

53 day wait because the so called engineer doesn't wanna take 2 steps out onto the roof to swap out the quad lnb with Y-lnb. Just cancelled the order there and then. Such a ******* fail of a company

Count yourself lucky - I literally took 4 days off from work for an engineer that never showed up. When I called, furious as I was, I got lip from some donkey in their call centre who acted like she was somehow doing me a favor and decided to just cancel the order and stay with freeview. They are absolutely diabolical. That was 18 months ago I guess they haven't changed.

This SkyQ deal is effectively the Family pack for £12 a month. Sports and Cinema upgrades are at their usual cost. To add on Sports and Cinema would bring the cost to £48 pm total.

And as an existing sky customer I pay £55 pm for the same thing but with the old box, woooo yay :(

I know it's not your fault but I do wonder why I bother at times.

loyalty gets you nowhere with any company.

mobile phones, insurance, utilities, energy, tv, banking, etc.

always change as soon as your contract/year is up to whoever has the best deal on at that time. it's no use haggling or complaining with them over the phone. you will never ever get a better deal than what new customers do.

these companies love "loyalty". people who cannot be bothered to chop and change every year.

taking 1-3 hours out every year to sort out all your bills could save you literally 1-3 grand a year easy.

I do with the other stuff you mention because there are alternatives - problem with Sky is there aren't direct competitors like you get with phone contracts, ultilities, insurance etc.

I'll give them a ring and see what they say.

BT, Talk Talk, Virgin Media, Freeview, Freesat, Netflix, Amazon Prime, IPTV, Foreign satellite subscriptions (a pub subscribed to Sky Italia/Germany or something like that instead of Sky UK as it was much cheaper. They even won a court ruling against them by Sky UK.

Even if there is no direct competitor, cancel and sign up in someone else's name, sibling, partner, parent, etc and as a new customer. Then a year later cancel and sign up in your own name, rinse and repeat.

There are plenty of things you can do.
