Interesting re Gallas. given the agitating he was doing and comments about how unhappy he was/lack of ambition etc, it would seem to be an obvious ploy to buy his loyalty.
Wonder what effect it will have on some of the longer established team members and dressing room morale.
Class defender and I would rather have him in a blue shirt than not, but he does have a track record of being dissatisified when he doesn't get his own way.
Not sure if making him captain is a positive thing.

Certainly could be to buy his loyality, Wenger has done it before with Paddy and Henry, although both were far more important to the club than Gallas.

There aren't really that many established players. I think Gilberto could be a little annoyed, but I don't think anyone else can be, Toure hasn't really done the job as captain to stake a claim.

Great player, just a bit of a **** really. Nowhere near the Cashley stakes though

I'm in full on Que Sera Sera mode.
I don't think there is as much pressure on us.
We have a squad that needed only a little fettling, and barring a swift exit for Robben/swift entrance for Alves won't change now.
Most of the cover/gaps have been addressed.
Given the above, I can't see too many reasons that we can't do just as well as last season - though the pre-season injury list is a little daunting.
But I'm feeling pretty mellow about it all.
(Save the above post for when I am chewing carpet in January).

Edit: Gallas getting the captaincy is a disgrace too, Gilberto was a fantastic captain last season. Toure is also the 2nd best defender in the league so I'd argue he should have it more than Gallas.

I guess it goes to show, if you whinge enough at Arsenal you get your way.

Nope, people hate him because of the world cup. Even Utd fans did and as we've seen you lot would have been happy to see him leave, shows a fickle football fans are (hargreaves being another example of this).

In other news it seems as if we've signed Itandje in time to play in the cl qualifier, paving the way for Carson to join Villa on loan. Itandje joining on a permenant deal but not sure of the fee and Villa are paying £2.5m for Carson for the year.

He was never that whingey, he never complained about tackles like Reyes or Robben.


And BaZ87, a lot more Man Utd fans that you think wanted Ronaldo to stay. I said from day one he wouldn't leave, thankfully I was proved correct.
