New summer transfer thread

Hearing rumours that Mido has agreed terms with Boro this afternoon and is either likely to be confirmed tonight or tomorrow.

He can defend, just not in the general manner we are accustomed to. If players are of a higher calibre than him he is not afraid to get dirty, fouling and attempting to kick them out the game.

An excellent example is everytime he comes up against Ronaldo. He gets away with murder.

I'm not Cole's biggest fan (I'd probably get banned if you want to know my opinion on him) but imo that is nonsense, Man utd fans in struggle to accept that their main man C.Ronaldo who has ripped most fullbacks to shreds has been kept quiet near enough everytime he has played Cole, apart from that one half in the first match Cole has kept him quiet. To say it is down to fouling and kicking them out of games is rubbish. Kicking players out of games is what Neville did to Reyes. How many times does Cole foul him in thic clip?
Yes he has fouled Ronaldo but name me a defender who hasn't ever commited a foul?

Agreed, Cole completely dominates Ronaldo every time they play.

not the ones on here though, there was a thread that Ripper revived with our regular Manc's slating him.

There were plenty of reasons for a few of us slating him at that time. His antics in the World Cup for one, the whole Rooney sending off ticked quite a few of us off and I didn't completely buy into the whole media frenzy that followed, but made my own opinion from what I seen happen. He appeared disloyal to a fellow club player. He was then quoted as saying he wanted to leave and that he couldn't face going back to England. Up until this point, he was probably one of the most frustating players at Old Trafford in the sense that he possessed bags of skill and energy, but lacked that killer instinct. Coupled with his blatant diving I'm not surprised he gained so much notoriety during last summer.

I stand by my comments at that time, except for the 'will never', I should know by now that you can't say never in football. I'm glad I was wrong and I'm delighted that he committed himself to Man Utd and progressed as a player in a very mature fashion.

I don't think he was a good player for us, sure he got a few goals and had the odd blistering game but he has not progressed as a player in the 3 years he's been with us. I would rather have a player who is more determined and focused and will give more than 100%. Ronaldo has never and will never do that for us.

I wouldn't deem fans fickle for changing opinions on a player when that said player has changed drastically enough to warrant people reassessing their views on him. I like being proven wrong especially when it's for the good of the club. Ronaldo has proven a lot of people wrong, not just fans, but the media. And he deserves all the credit he gets. It's the people who still hate him and call him a diving whatever and refuse to see how good he really is that are the complete ****s.

Now let us never speak of that thread again. :p :D

Cole DOES foul Ronaldo at every opportunity. HE did it every time Ronaldo was against him in the Community Shield. Cole at OT last season was a joke.
As for Neville on Reyes, that's the biggest load of tosh I've read, there was no intentional fouling, hell, very few of his tackles WERE fouls, most were fair. Reyes just didn't like it. Fact is, Reyes just wasn't that good.

 All that for saying people hate Ronaldo.

The fickle bit wasn't aimed at one person in particular but many were going on about how bad he was and good ridance, when he clearly wasn't as bad as he was being made out to be(same thing with Hargreaves).

Anyway i stand by my original point that more people hate Ronaldo than Cole, simply because of his antics and the world cup incident.

Completely disagree, i can think back to a game at OT where Neville went straight through the back of Reyes the first time he got the chance and was definantly not going for the ball.

Ronaldo is a class player, but I don't like his antics on the pitch, I love to hate him.
This is what baffles me, what antics? He had the living **** kicked out of him on numerous occassions yet he just continually got up and got on with it. No lashing out, no mouthing off. In that respect he's got to be one of the best behaved players in the league, I'd certainly say he's the best behaved at Man Utd.

Rooney could learn a thing or two from him.

What else can you do but smile and face the truth :p

I see it with my own eyes everytime we play Chelsea. I posted a comment on here before kick off on Sunday predicting how Cole would foul Ronaldo everytime he's near him, and thats exactly what happened.
