New Superman is..

*Sigh*

Superman to me is Clark Kent - in the same way that Spiderman = Peter Parker (not Miles Morales)

I don't need or want a different version of them, especially not to fulfill a racial quota.

+1. I wonder if audiences will have to take the knee before entering the cinema.

Why does it matter what the skin colour is of an imaginary character?

I'm sure DC are just moving with the times.

It might make money, it might bomb, time will tell.

They had the perfect casting with Cavil, fans loved him and he played it well. He is for most people this generations 'Superman' same as Christopher Reeve was for the previous.

It doesn't.

However I hate the need to mess with established backstories, or bring in "alternate universe" versions of characters, purely to boost racial/gender/other diversity, rather than just making a new original super hero movie with a black actor etc.

I played and completed Miles Morales, and whilst I enjoyed the game, I felt zero attachment to the character.
Growing up Spiderman was always Peter Parker, and whilst we have had different actors and slightly different takes on the back story in the various movies - it's never deviated much, and so the attachment has always been there.

In all fairness with Miles, in comic book canon he takes up the mantle (back in 2011) after Peter dies. It's his own story, just with the mask.

The issue I have with the new Superman is that it's rumoured to be Kal-El again , which is just a re-skin an an existing story.

As I've said before, they can make all the super woke show's and movies they want and who actually cares? We aren't forced to watch them.
Let them spend their money to make them.

All I’m interesting in is good films so I couldn’t care less what colour Superman is as that fact is irrelevant to the quality of the film. I didn’t enjoy Without Remorse but as Michael B. Jordan was the only decent thing about Black Panther for me, and assuming he was to become a black Superman, I’ll go see it. Hell I was rooting for Idris Elba to become James Bond as I like him as an actor.

Michael B Jordan is a terrible choice. He has no element of superman about him at all. For starters he’s only 5’10 ffs. That’s one shortarse Superman.
