New TF2 Update

Yes its ME because I ( ME ) play the game for FUN - I dont play to make sure others have fun >.>

If I have a decent team then I play accordingly...

As for noob servers, feel free to come play on ours and see how you rate against the regulars :)

Just added it, Multiplay, custom maps, instant fail. :(

lol :P theyre custom maps being considered for the Wireplay League that will be starting shortly :P

Badlands, Dustbowl, Granary and Well are still in the rotation but theres a few other maps like cp_station_b1 and cp_science in the rotation too :) Might put Warpath in there too.

If you think custom maps are an instant fail then maybe its you that needs to try different servers ;)

Hehe, never played them so I can't judge, might try and come at some point when its populated.

Just checked the server stats, I liked this bit. ;)

Spammy mofo Phal (2 Grenade kills)

Yeah, I run the stats on there so I renamed the Demoman awards to Spammy Mofo and Sticky whore :) Ordinarily the number would be higher but we had a match on another server lol

Imagine if the game had been released with these ammo levels, no one would be complaining, it would just be part of the game, people hate change. Valve collect statistics from every player so can clearly see which classes are doing what, they obviously saw an imbalance and changed the game to suit this.

It's trivial to modify server settings so that ammo settings can be overidden so if people really hate the new settings they can always change the server.
That's a bit of a straw man argument. What if the game was released and players had jetpacks??? Fact is it was released with different ammo levels so people have formed a playstyle based on this.

On some maps - I'm thinking specifically of 2fort and well - there's no ammo (or just 1 box) between you and the enemy base, how is a two or three man team supposed to penetrate a defence? In my opinion the balance of power already favoured the defence as they were closer to their spawn, the engineer could just keep wrenching their sentry from behind, etc. It took a concerted push from like-minded, like-skilled individuals to break through semi-decent defence.

Now, if I'm reading these changes right, defenders will be pretty much unaffected as they'll be sat next to dispensers or a few seconds walk to their cabinets, and can just carry on spamming down the routes the enemy is coming from. Attackers on the other hand will have to be even more unified as a team (I'm not so sure it's possible on pubs) to get anywhere.

Some of the above may be "sky is falling", but I seriously think 16 rockets is too low. You only get half from a weapon drop anyway, assuming the weapon hasn't been blasted across the map or somewhere where it's totally counter-productive to go and get it. I can see medic + demo/soldier combos walking towards 4th and 5th cap points with 8 rockets or less to deal with the sentries and God only knows what else sat there waiting for them.

There's been hardly any difference in gameplay with these new changes, personally I found I never ran out of ammo with either class anyway (well, maybe Demo primary launcher).

This just makes it so Soldiers/Demos have to retreat once in a while, like Heavies need to do when they're on a spamming spree unless of course there's a load of dropped weapons to loot.

Maybe it will also make players think more about where to aim instead of wasting their entire clips in under 10 seconds because they know they won't run out soon.

I think what Valve need to do next is tweak the crit rates since at the moment it's still too luck-based (although the new server variables are an interesting addition, Valve obviously feeling they should give admins a little choice in how to run their servers without completely butchering their game).

You cane believe the extend of which people are whining? :P hello? lol

The people whining about nerfing soldiers are happy now. Its now the demos and soldiers whining and theres a lot of them! thats why theres whining.

As for TEAMWORK as you put it... well its only going to hurt public server play where there is no teamwork 99% of the time.

People will continue to play whatever class they want regardless of what their team needs. You might be lucky and get a team with the right balance of classes or you might dip out and get a team full of Snipers and Spies!

They already nerfed how much ammo you get from dropped weapons :\ Dont think this nerf was needed tbh

You're probably right about it being a different demographic that's kicking up a fuss now but you can't help but feel sorry Valve trying to please the collective.

I can't agree with you about "no teamwork 99% of the time". Perhaps my view on this is distorted seeing as I frequent a particular server all the time, which has quite a wide base of regular players, who by now know each other to some extent and play together very well.

I have played on different servers from time to time and there certainly is less teamwork with complete strangers, but its certainly not absent completely. I'm talking complex strategy, but the basics of teamwork come into practice regularily. There are many players which enjoy helping the team perform well. A lot of engineer players seem to enjoy their support role, I have noticed. Obviously not all of them are on directly helping the team, but certainly not none at all.

Although I haven't played yet (and still can't - waiting for my new ISP) I'm still struggling to see how demos and soldiers are going to be at any significant disadvantage. I just feel that, with the exception of perhaps 2fort, ammo and dispensers seem to be too commonplace.

This is the reason I play medic. If i'm providing a good supporting role my team can make significant progress against a team without any teamwork :)

I've been playing for a while, same as usual, not much difference in gameplay at all, still getting spammed by grenades and rockets, I don't think some people even noticed the change to be honest.

yup, although i played as a heavy on dustbowl and it was amazing. Totally different game with every class :D Still loving it :)

Ain't played as soldier / demo after update yet, trying to ween myself from playing them (were my top 2)

I've been prone to spaming in this patch but I've also been on the receiving end of spaming and it does suck.

But we never know you maybe able to increase your ammo for these classes at the cost of speed or health when they introduce the special skills into the game. But we'll have to wait and see on this.

Valve's big plans, no one knows them, not even valve D:

ammo

well it seems obvious to me most of you on here are not playing tf2 at
clan lvl or in official leagues the current setup is generally 6v6 1medic limit
non criticals, game seemed to be prety well balanced like this althou the demo seems to be dominant on certain maps where he just pipes off entrances as he has so much ammo avail,
so really the fact now u have half the ammo is a massive problem
when regarding when you are trying to take down a sgun and being attacked by 1-2 scouts you dont have enough ammo to jump up on crates death match scouts and get sentry guns down
also in 6v6 very rarely does anyone use engineer as its to slow and takes to long to setup when trying to capture zones especially on maps like well or granary,
the 3rd problem i see with less ammo for soldier and ammo
when as before if you have lost a zone say cp3 and you are dropping back to defend the 2nd cp you then have less ammo to use the soldier to fire his rockets at the wall to get up the medics ubber,
makeing it even harder for the medic to play as the ubber is essential in his play to get the ubber to then counter attack and re-capture the area needed
It seems to me valve do not listen to anyone who play in official leagues or ladders but just those who love to run around spammin the hell out of each other on a 24man server for them guys yeh GREAT cut the ammo,,
for those who play competitive TF2
well its ruined it and if it is to be played in any major LAN's or CPL orr have any future as a competitive game in the context of cs.
this just gave TF2 a massive smack down

Added protection against voice command spamming. Dramatic reduction in teleporters needed
lol

Need a teleporter here!
Need a teleporter here!

I haven't really noticed that much difference when I was playing last night. But then, I was playing as a sniper mostly, getting peoples heads when they jumped down from their fort in 2fort :D
