New Top Gear (2011) BBC 2 8PM!

Notice no Aussies have complained about the top gear crew insulting them? and no British people have complained about the insults the Aussies used about British people? :P

We give as good as we get with the Aussies, and the difference was they were right there in front of them. With the Mexican thing, the gang are sat there in their comfy studio with no one to answer to if they go off on one like that...

I thought the whole Mexi-gate thing was to prove a point about the Sky commentators getting fired for their "offensive" sexist remarks.

Clarkson said before that he's said much worse things than what they said and was never dismissed, so I assumed they were doing this to make a point and that's why they took it so far.

It was quite offensive though, Top Gear has never gone that extreme before. They normally do things subtly like putting an ornamental tissue box on the back of Sanjeev Bhaskar's car when he went round the track, which was funny but slightly offensive.

So if they said the Aussie stuff in the studio every Australian would be offended?

Well, even then probably not, because as has been said we have a long history with the Australians, particularly with things like the cricket, and it's generally very good natured.

But Mexicans...? We have no history with Mexicans, so it can't be excused as "banter" in the same way ribbing Aussies could be.

its about tolerance.

Something that the british with their stiff upper lip are very good at.

Not that people would think that from our sensationalist tabloid headlines.

I thought it was totally unnecessary and taken too far. Seemed very out of place..
Surprised the producers didn't get them to re-do it. Wasn't funny, either.

Clarkson said nothing, may made the comment about the food looking like sick etc, but Hammond was the one who took it too far.

IMO.

It was edited, Clarkson made out how it would all be ok and they could say what they liked because the Mexican ambassador would be asleep anyway.

Oh god who cares. It's a few childish motoring journalists renowned for being purposefully un-PC.

Doesnt the Mexican ambassador have more important things to worry about?

I can see both sides of it but really? I'm a Kiwi and I'd expect jibes about sheep and sheep shagging and New Zealand being a country full beer swilling farmers - why get offended by it? Australians are all branded as criminals and they don't get up in arms about it. It's not a serious comment - it was done in a humorous situation. I think they are being a bit too sensitive.

I think it was a bit too much, and just out of the blue really for no real reason, I'm not offended, I couldn't give a flying **** to be honest, I probabley tell harsher racist and sexist jokes most days than that anyways. Just the fact that they spent more time saying those things than they did talking about the Mk.3 Focus was a bit perplexing.
