New Top Gear (2011) BBC 2 8PM!

Almost every rally car I can think of is road legal. I haven't read the blue book in a few years but I think it's a requirement of the regs for most if not all classes of rallying, in the UK at least.
But so many people in modded cars get pulled over by the coppers as their exhaust is making too much noise, which is why I am surprised a WRC car is fine when it is mega loud.

I'm not much for off roaders, but that thing the Hamster was in, Hmm, I quite like that..... :D

Very good start, and worthy of praise.

When its good, I'm happy to say so, as much as I'll happily bleat when its crap.:p

That was a good episode even star in the car segment.

How about the Thrust SSC and the new BloodHound, ok maybe not publicly buyable, but then labour costs are to high in uk for most things. But we are still doing good work.

you've never been to the british round of the WRC have you ?

How do you think they get from one stage to another ? its not on the back of a transporter ...

Anti-lag off, couple of bungs in the exhaust, should be quiet enough for road?

i imagine they'd have something like that. A switchable map that turns it into wimp mode for it to be driven about on the roads obeying speed limits between stages. Dangerous might know better ?

I've never understood why WRC cars get driven on the road. Surely the teams can afford a transporter? Although there is something about a three wheeled rally car cruising down the dual carriageway between stages :D

I was always under the impression that they HAD to be driven between stages, according to the rallying rules. I realize I may be completely wrong though :o

That's usually because of inappropriate noise for the type of vehicle though - I'd probably get away with a cherry bomb system on a Mk 2 Escort but the same system would land a new 107 in some bother.

I think it is literally a switch/button for use on the road sections between stages.

Anyway, really enjoyed the episode and hope the rest of this series is as good. Quite looking forward to the caravan challenge they have lined up.
