New top gear lineup..

 no? I hadn't even given the ethnicity and sex of the line-up a thought until this thread. I think it's a shame that so many people immediately assume that the choice of an certain ethnicity or sex is a choice borne out of political correctness rather than on the individual's merit. As long as people keep commenting on such decisions in that way, it's not something we're ever going to grow out of :(

As long as it's heavily pushed as being a good thing ("positive discrimination" is an oxymoron, but it's a normal belief) and in many cases outright imposed by force, it's not something we're ever going to grow out of :(

It's a hell of a stretch with Sabine Schmitz, though. She's probably the most obviously suitable candidate of the lot. Major credentials when it comes to driving. Extensive experience presenting car programs on TV. Previous appearances on Top Gear which went down well with viewers.

It will be three of them in the studio, chatting about cars etc. Then going to a review or video of one of the others I'd imagine. More like 5th gear was. They couldn't hope to replicate what Clarksons topgear was and people who hate them for it.

I'm not sure, I think they'll try and emulate the same format purely because of the revenues the show makes and would lose if they moved significantly away from the Clarkson format.

I think this could be the case but shifted back a few years, so you'll be getting at least one semi serious review or round up per episode, more localised fun features at the track etc. and not so much of the recent trend for full episode races/features so often rather than once or twice a season.

First road trip being up to Blackpool in roofless reliant robins, and to wherever they're going to need a hep a jab.

Sounds like they're trying to mimic old TG if I'm honest.

Also, Matt never sounds remotely excited, I'd be buzzing if I got to do something like that!

My niece met Matt let blanc, Chris Evans and some production guys around 2 hours ago, in KFC Cannock.

Apparently the car('s?) they were in had broke down.. my niece being a woman was more interested in how handsome matt was then talking about the cars though. booooo.

**Edit they were in the reliant robins

Really? Just a matter of a couple of days after May broke down in a Reliant Robin in London, that he'd borrowed from Hammond.

Wow...

These rich individuals with their ultra unique cars...

It's racism pure and simple.

People cry out that the BBC only employs blacks because they want to be multicultural whilst their ugly fat girlfriends watch an all white TV crew present BBC's great british bake off and remember the good old days of a year ago when Top Gear was presented by 3 straight white men.... that dastardly PC BBC!!

Quite. I didn't post the other week, but the racism was strong in this one. Shame.

As someone posted above, one black guy and a woman out of 7 people and lolcuk call pc gone mad :(
FWIW, Harris is a bit brown anyway so now the BBC have got one and a half brown people. I for one won't be watching!!1111

I shouldn't be making fun of it though, this place depresses me at times.

What is more depressing is the mods delete/ban people calling out the racism but don't suspend people for making racist remarks.

You should make fun of it, as depressing as it is stupid people are going to stupid.

You just can't help yourself can you.

It is not racist like you say. Far from it. The mods are quite right as what has been said is not racist, and you shouting "racist" at people is a very strong accusation that has no basis.

Questioning how an organisation treats diversity is not racist and is actually very important in making sure racism does not occur.

I will ask you again. Do you think that the people who thought that the Oscar nominations were too "white" are racist as well?

I am sorry you are so privileged you do not recognise

"omg they hired a black person, must be because of PC"

as not being racist.

One is leaving people out based on a fairly clear distinction resulting in a punching upwards effect, the other is being called out by people, with 0 correlation or basis, on the hiring of someone on that same distinction, I think your comparison of the two says a lot about your mindset.

No,it is precisly the same thing. You said it was disgusting to think that someone was awarded something because of their skin colour and not on actual merit.

This is precisely what the people complaining about the diversity of the Oscars have done.

..and it is not racist.

I will say again, questioning how an organisation treats diversity is not racist.

^^ You seem to be struggling to distinguish between where people are and aren't intending to cause offence.

Racism is pretty offensive whether its intended or not, whether the person being racist knows they are or not. For people not to point it out is also fairly disgusting.

I refuse to sit by and watch bunch of white people talk about how a black guy only got the job because he is black.
