New top gear lineup..

Will be interesting, for me Top Gear had run it's course with the old line up/format it had become a bit dull and formulaic so a total change will either re-invigorate the show or kill it dead both of which would be a good outcome.

I'm more worried about what Amazon prime will be getting for the money, if Jezzer and the team just try and turn out the same tired stuff under a different name then it will be the biggest waste of time since the BBC commissioned Eldorado!

I'm really looking forward to it. Chris Evans isn't a multi millionaire for being stupid.
He's assembled a group of car lovers to make a show about cars. I'm hoping it's good. At least then we'll have two good car shows to watch during the year instead of the 1 or 2 series of (Old) Top Gear.

But already threatened to quit because if BBC interference. Everything we've heard so far, shows BBC meddling, which isn't going to go well. Looks like BBC has fi ally done what they wanted all along, full control. So it'll be all PC, nicey nicey and in all likelihood terrible.

I stopped watching the BBC F1 coverage because of Eddie Jordan...... I expect Season 2 will drop some of that line up.

I'm shocked at the lack of LGBT and differently abled people in the line up.

Did anyone else think "Force awakens" when they saw the lineup. Let's throw in a lady and a black guy! That will sort it out lol. Don't get me wrong I don't have a problem with either but it just feels like more PC madness.

I don't think I will be watching either to be honest. Shmee150 and all his YouTube buddies are putting out some amazing content lately. When they start there roadtrips in the summer I think they will be getting huge audiences.

Technically, what you dub as "Top Gear 2" wasn't always Clarkson, Hammond and May. Series 1 was odd.

Yes, and Jason Dawe didn't fit with the other two and/or his segments didn't fit with the format of the program. Which shows how important interaction between the presenters is. Top Gear 2 was mostly about some friends having a laugh with some cars, which is why it appealed to such a wide audience.

I think that's the key point when making a car program to appeal to a wide audience. People who want reviews of cars they might buy look online for detailed, written reviews, ask on forums for advice and test drive possibilities. No point making a TV program about that. People who want detailed information find that online too, there aren't a huge number of them and each one tends to want something quite specific. No point making a TV program about that either. It has to be about fun. Even if it's really a car show, focused on driving cars and aimed at car enthusiasts, it still has to be about fun. Chris Harris on Cars would be rather less successful if he didn't enjoy it.

It's a positive thing, in my opinion. It's nice that so many people enjoy watching other people enjoying themselves.

 no? I hadn't even given the ethnicity and sex of the line-up a thought until this thread. I think it's a shame that so many people immediately assume that the choice of an certain ethnicity or sex is a choice borne out of political correctness rather than on the individual's merit. As long as people keep commenting on such decisions in that way, it's not something we're ever going to grow out of :(

I don't see the obsession people have with Sabine either, Chris Evans just irritates me and apart from Leblanc and the stig, I haven't seen any of the others before.

New line-up looks a joke tbh, we'll just have to see if it's utter tripe or not. Will take them years to form any sort of chemistry, and it still won't be the same as the old trio.

Thankfully I didn't think that either, until the thought was pushed on us from this thread.

Sad, really :(

I posed this to hurfdurf for calling me racist but he didn't answer (probably because he didn't have one) but do you feel the same about all the people complaining about the Oscar nominations this year (ie complaining they are predominantly white)? After all they are doing exactly the same thing. They are essentially saying the nominees got picked because they are white and not on merit.
