Guys this wasn't a recent sale, it happened back in May, "these aren't the droids you're looking for, move along, move along" ;)

We wont rest, we are all intruiged as to why the previous owner wanted to contact the new owner :D

Do you miss it and want it back? :p

Quick question for any of you that are up before the DVLA are...

From memory, as I don't have a V5 to check, in a private sale, both the buyer and the seller complete the V5, the buyer retains a little slip, and the seller posts the forms to the DVLA, who should then send out a new V5 to the new owner, and a letter confirming the action to the seller?

Is the above accurate, and has anyone ever had to deal with a seller refusing to post the V5 until his red rubber ball and halter has been returned? (I like it, the strap is black, and it matches the colour scheme of the car )

If nobody has experienced the above, and surely with this many Z4 owners on the forum, it must have happened before ;) (including you Fox, you're not kidding anyone by feigning naivety!), what's the course of action if the DVLA have failed to send out the new V5?

I bet it's wife swapping related...

He's just has a set of keys returned after a mix up with the bowl? Still has his last partner in the boot?

The seller should ring or write to the dvla to inform them that the car has been transferred from a previous date, and that they've not recieved confirmation of that.
If the seller doesn't want to do that, the buyer can fill in the form to say he hasn't recieved a v5 and prove that he owns the car by producing the new keeper supplement. This will trigger a fine/prosecution on the seller for not informing the dvla of a transfer which is an offence with up to a £1000 fine. Doing it all recorded delivery is obviously the way forward too.

What he said ^

We didn't receive the new V5 for a few months so my mum phoned up and somehow proved we owned it and they sent a new V5 out pretty sharply. Didn't bother going through the guy we bought from as he was that dense I had to tell him what to fill in on a V5 :S
