New Trafford

Not quite.

One thing I would point out is that these designs are only the very early renderings, so it may look quite a bit different in the end. It's not really been planned out properly yet.
Just looks really odd out of place like you said with the Dubai thing. If they want the 3 things sticking up it probably would look better with a flatter roof rather than this marquee looking thing.

Sunderland will win the premier league before this thing is built. BS and bluster from new owners, everyone of them does it. Even mega rich Saudi ones.

Well they have to do something fairly soon.

They either have to close large parts of OT for a long time and spend a huge amount of money fixing that.
Move to another stadium and close it completely to do the works
Build a new stadium and keep OT running and bringing in full income until then.

They are also likely to sell the naming rights to a new stadium. I can't see them doing that to OT. Everything points to a new stadium being the answer. OT is a mess right now and cannot be left another decade.

"We've got no money and that's why I'm sacking the tea ladies and making every one bring in some sarnies. But here's some plans for a 2 billion quid stadium complex that we hope to have built in 5 years"
Good job it looks like a giant circus tent.

The optics aren't great but I guess their spin is that a) it won't be fully funded by the club and b) sacking people allows them to do it/pay the loans back

Statement definitely has an arabian look. Whats that structure 2/3rds of the way up the middle spike, is it a viewing platform ?

I understand that the canvas extending way beyond the stadium gives them a covered area outside the stadium for shops/retail/food/merchandising, but it does make the whole thing look like a tent.

We will not even own it. This is just some masquerading by private equity to get the tax payer to pay for the infrastructure while these suckers build a stadium and milk it to high heaven.

Welcome to the future.

This is the whole dream of the "Wembly of the North". NFL on Tuesdays, NBA on Thursday, Taylor Swift pretending to be a musician on Friday, Man Utd getting beat on Saturday by ten men Bournemouth all under the banner of "insert naming rights" Stadium. Let the $$$ roll in.

Whilst the video was informative it did feel like a bit of a sales pitch. You're right to be wary of the Money Men, they'll tell you what you want to hear.

Gotta be double surely?
Am guessing they think that there can be some cost sharing with the other parts of the regeneration and these guys are the best in the business. Normally a contract like that will have c 10% contingency after winning tender. I'm incredibly positive about it - a long way to go but you have to start somewhere and whilst people will slate Ratcliffe about his motivations - I believe they are genuine. Yes he gets a legacy but no-one will care about that and he could be dead by the time its built :-(

Didn't fancy sitting through the video, are they planning on having NFL games there?

They said Football First so no changeable pitch at the moment, whether that rules out other sports is another matter.

And surely lunch-money-stealer-Jim is going to want to maximise profit?

Ineos Stadium shirley? ;-)

Not sure I like the designs. We need something done, which would mean either closing some stands for ages to rebuild them, but I wouldn't be surprised if we had to have two stands closed at the same time to do foundation works, or build a new ground. The designs, especially inside, look soulless and devoid of an identity.

Yeah I know what you mean.

Thanks for the share. A really good explanation of what could happen. Am Thinking its more than £2bn though !

It's ok though, by the time it's gone through a few rounds of value engineering to get it back "on budget" the more affordable version will get sent for planning approval:
