New World MMO

So pleased I have swerved this disaster, I had a bad feeling about it from the outset. Amazon had no experience with game development at all, nevermind expereince in the most difficult genre. So this was all pretty predictable.

I for one certainly wouldnt want to be on any server he is on, not with that much of a horde of people following him round, would be an absolute nightmare.

I feel the same 100 percent, but I can understand why some would. You are pretty much guaranteed a high pop server when the inevitable churn happens after the 1st month.

Just wondering why the cap of 2k though, is the server tech just not able to handle more? MMO launches are historically terrible and it seems like a billion dollar company failed to account for that. If I was playing that wouldn't fill me with any confidence for the future.

Good god, there are 97,000 people watching Asmongold on New World...and he isnt even in the game, he is 10,000 in a queue ! 97,000 people. Thats insane numbers. He could literally fill Wembley Stadium lol

I dont understand the appeal to that guy I watched 1 of his videos once and thought he was an annoying little c...

Didn't watch the video long

Well this is good news

Greetings, Adventurers!

All regions are now live! It has been an unbelievable 24 hours and the support for New World that we’ve seen so far has been incredible. We understand that some players are experiencing lengthy queue times and we are working hard on a few things to help address these issues. We are continuing to stand up additional servers and will expand the capacity of our existing servers once we have properly tested these changes.

Our sole focus right now is to get everyone logging in and playing quickly. To ensure everyone can find an open world now, while also finding a home in Aeternum with their community long-term, we’ll offer an opportunity in the next two weeks for all players to relocate their characters to a new server of their choice at no cost. We appreciate your patience as the New World community grows and encourage you to solidify your long-term server plans for you and your Company.

Thanks for your support! We can’t wait to see you in Aeternum

Reminds me of all the MMORPG launches of old. And it amazes me that consumers still act surprised when faced with the long log-in queues, server outages etc. This genre has been around for nearly 25 yrs and it's always been the same b******t. For those new to the genre don't expect these problems to be resolved by tomorrow - they usually take at least 2 weeks to settle down to an acceptable level.

At least the server move is free, you can just never tell these days especially when companies try to squeeze in every microtransaction cost they can, so thats a good move which is just as well as they are down to 48% on steam reviews now, drop another 8% and they move to Mostly Negative, so they need to start pulling their fingers out because some people will, and do, make purchasing decisions based on the steam review rating.

They also need to put in a disconnect cooldown grace period because a friend of mine lost conn and when he logged back in he was back at a 3102 queue. Should implement a 3 min grace period or something

This should be the normal for every mmo launch, well done Amazon games

Thing is you only have to see the number of "its just how it is" posts on the forums to understand why nothing changes. Yes its gone from Overwhelmingly positive to mixed on steam now but that does very little - especially as queue time counts as game time so your screwed if you want a refund anyway.

And that is why we continue to get stuff that we do in the gaming industry, people just rollover and accept stuff because its always been that way. Its probably part of the reason we get expensive DLCs, MTX and buggy releases. One day I would like us all en masse to have a little more self worth and value ourselves a little more in our gaming habits

Did you end up buying this game, or are you still holding fire for a bit like you suggested earlier in this thread ?

Tried Bifrost but obviously gave up, just signed up to the lowest wait time and got in after an hour! Played for an hour or so and enjoyed it so far.

They are going to have to do something with the servers, waiting over an hour to just get into a game you have paid for is not acceptable.

I'm holding fire, there's a lot of FOMO around at the moment but I am going to stick to my guns and do a wait and see. The target I have set for myself is December 31st, if its still going well on December the 31st then I will jump in, if its died off sufficiently by then , I wont. I will continue to keep a solid eye on it over the coming days and weeks.

I managed to get on and play. All was good for me.

Though my friend had some issues as the game keeps crashing in the tutorial, the part that shows us how to dodge, left shift.

Hopefully they fix it.
