New xbox one s controller

All - word of warning - the Bluetooth compatibility will come with the Windows 10 Anniversary update - so for now until this is rolled-out by M$ its wired only or via the xbox one windows 10 adapter

You can get the anversary update early if you enter the Windows 10 preview builds, you can request slow build updates, which will provide the more stable release. Its what I did..

This controller is wicked. Works with Windows 10 store, any of the store apps, got a great Windows 10 Plex remote now.

Works with Steam big picture mode, generally this is the controller MS should have released at the start. Excellent controller, no need for wires, just use a USB bluetooth dongle if you don't have built in bluetooth.. Much smaller dongles then the MS wireless dongle.

Expensive, but well worth it from the few hours I've had with it.. Hope it holds up over time..

What's new? I've been using a wireless Xbox One pad for ages now, so what have they improved?

I think the only difference is you can use bluetooth now instead of buying a dongle.

I was thinking of getting one but wouldn't really want to pay more than £25.

Bluetooth is a big bonus, its also got textured grips, and headsets for PC now work from your Controller using the built in 3.5mm headphone jack, its also a little lighter and some say a little smaller, but I didn't notice that myself..

I also noticed that the rumble triggers for Forza Apex now work correctly.

Overall, its a huge improvement for PC gamers over a 360 pad IMO and better then using a DS4 pad with something like xinputmapper or DS4Windows as now I don't need third party software.

You're making me want one especially if as I saw at the announcement that you can customize the colours.

At £49.99 these are not cheap pads sadly. But seeing as I didn't have a X1 wireless dongle, and only have bluetooth and I didn't want to have a huge dongle hanging out of my system, I just went for it.

glad I did.

DS4 pad sorta worked with BT, but it was very un-reliable. And you needed third party software, which again is very iffy with Windows 10.

These newer X1 pads work right out the box, and it was a nice surprise to find out you can use the audio jack for your headset.

If you can justify the cost, go for one. Excellent pad, best pad MS has ever released for PC IMO.

My old thrustmaster pad has crumbled apart slightly *dpad cracking, one of the shoulder buttons has broken and the rubberized coating is wearing off*, so I went hunting for a new pad.

Tried various xbox 360 and One pads, and they're ok. PS3/4 pads are not for me. Still give me cramp after a while. Ended up picking up a red Wii classic controller pro and a Mayflash PC052 adapter to run it. Nintendo still produce the best dpads imo.

They also produce a wireless adapter for the WiiU pro controller. But I prefer the layout on the normal Wii pad.

The adapter is a slightly chunky USB stick. It's nothing and more or less invisible if installed in a rear port!

somehow with a wheel, mouse, keyboard (which takes two USB sockets , usb HD (don't ask) BT adaptor which I also use with my phone and my system having more USB ports on the front then the back, I've no spare ports at the rear of my system...

I guess I could have moved the USB adaptor to the front, doesn't matter - its all done now, and looking nice and clean still..

I'll not say huge don** anymore, I feel a little red faced now.. : - (
