New xbox one s controller

When you want to update the firmware you have to connect the the controller via a good quality usb cable. I say good quality because I tried two other USB cables and the pad wasn't detected by the app.

My procedure was as follows,

1) left pad turned off
2) connected via USB (if the cable is good you will hear the windows USB alert when you connect it)
3) started App
4) the app detected the pad after searching then automatically told me it needed updating.

After update I had to re-sync but haven't had to since.

Yes that is fine, and good advice apart from one thing.

If you have already paired the contoller with bluetooth BEFORE you update the firmware, the controller will have assigned the pairing to your Xbox Live gamer tag if you have used it via Xbox Live app.

Don't ask, I found out the hard way. All you need to do if you find the controller just refuses to re sync after a firmware update is -

press the Xbox button and wireless button at the same time for around 5 sec, this resets the pair, and then let go, press the xbox button again and in bluetooth devices it will re-appear and you can re-sync.

I spent about 30 mins on that, and was getting rather annoyed.

I've just got the battery and cable kit and have noticed that it vibrates better with the cable attached and has proper accelerating (right trigger) and braking (left trigger) vibrations now and i'm sure it didn't do that via Bluetooth.

Whats yours like? I was playing Forza Horizon 3.

just fyi, think theres new cosmetic? versions coming a blue and pink/black blend called dawn shadow which looks nice imo :)

They are delicious. I posted them in the Gears thread.

Yep, the impulse triggers do not seem to work with Bluetooth :(

I think I'll give it a try with the cable and see what I'm missing.
