New Year hype

Time as we know is a human construct. I mean the calendar and the time like 3pm etc. Of course time exists. But the calendar and time is just a label for time that we put on to time. It is based on the rotation of the earth and the rotation of the earth around the star. So if you were in space it would not be 3pm or if you were on the moon it would not be 2010. Also there are other religions that have different calendars. So i think some people take it all a bit too literally. I have had some crazy new years in the past so i was happy to just ignore it this year. Happy rotation, lets hope the earth can do another :D

House party is the best way to spend a NYE IMO.

It was all because of the 1999/2000 changeover when bars started charging at the door, and started a culture that goes on to this very day. I guess 99/00 was also partially to blame for door cost to see major World Cup / Euro matches in a bar.

Just like any other night to be honest. It's nice to see your mates and have a few but I don't understand people that end up paying over the odds to go to the places that they always go to

you are a long time dead

Wrong.

nothing positive about death

Wrong.

and nothing can be achieved there.

Wrong.

This is your time, live it the best you can, there is nothing else.

Wrong.

Death is a beautiful and brilliant thing, a transition from one state to the next whereby you have a chance for complete realisation and elevation from mortal being.

What you meant you meant to say was "nah mate, NYE is great fer gettin ****ed lol".

After years of going, spending a fortune on booze and cabs we decided this year to stay at home.

Glad we did. Neither of us even had a drink and we seen the bells in with a cup of tea and bed about 1.

Benefits :

  • No hangover.
  • Was able to enjoy enjoyed fully cooked breakfast.
  • Seen all the footy on telly.
  • Had refreshing stroll with the missus and back for tea
Loverly.

Happy New Year to all.

I respect that, sounds lovely. Sounds like you could actually enjoy it without looking at it through the bottom of a glass.

I had a wonderful night - me and the gf with a bottle of champagne and just after midnight we went to watch the fireworks on Deptford Wharf. Beautiful evening and much better than going into London and getting soused off your knackers with a bunch of people you'd probably rather not spend your time with. I did that for years and I never actually liked it. Just did it because I felt I had to.

Am I the only person who doesn't get excited about the new year? I just don't get what's so good about it, just another year, another day or am I missing something?

Same as Christmas, most people are off work, most people want to go out and enjoy themselves, even if they don't normally come out the rest of the year.

Had a brilliant time last night, did a pub crawl in fancy dress and only two pubs charged to get in, one was £2 the other was £3, although we skipped the latter one, little point paying when there's so much choice.
