New Year's Eve

What are people doing tonight for it? This year it should be an understated, low-key one for most people, and though there's a sense of "wahey, 2020 is over", I don't think 2021 is going to be immensely different.

Personally I'm staying in with a bottle of red.

Staying in, drinking beer and moaning at the wife about being forced to stay in. The usual, really.

Haven’t been out on nye for the last few years as its overrated. We have ordered steaks and sides from Blacklock Restaurent in soho. Couple movies and some beers, sorter.

The French are doing it right:

Around 100,000 police and gendarmes are being deployed to the streets of France to break up New Year’s Eve parties and enforce the country’s curfew.

A curfew of 8.00pm has been put in place by Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin, and a heightened security presence will be visible in city centres and suburbs where gatherings are known to take place

Parties will be broken up as soon as they are reported, while the organisers and participants will be fined.

Meanwhile, in the UK...

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has asked people to ‘follow the rules where you live’.

On my own for the first time perhaps ever. Partner and son still with her mum. So lots of beer, lots of gaming and maybe a film. Hopefully catch some friends on zoom at midnight too.

Always had low-key/stay home NYEs in London due to the crazy price increases.

This will be our first NYE in France without friends and family here and we haven’t seen any family since this time last year; so I’m fully expecting it to feature wine and rubbish TV in Oder to numb us to how crap it is.

NYE last year, I was foreveralone.jpg.

This year, there will be plenty of foreveralone.jpg basement-dwellers like myself. Ironic, isn't it.

I'll just settle down with the Nintendo Switch. That's been a godsend since I bought it 3 months ago. Copious amounts of beer. Again a bit of irony because drinking by yourself isn't normally healthy, but doing it in 2020 suddenly means that you're now a responsible adult because you're socially distanced :p

Crying myself to sleep over another wasted year and edging closer to eternal nothingness. Oh and some booze for a lovely hangover filled with existential dread.

Absolutely nothing, the most overrated night of the year.

It’s just an excuse for bar owners to charge 3x the price for drinks and paying an entry fee into the ******** of places.

Darn it. I should have treated myself to a takeaway tonight instead of the other evening.

Tonight will be like any other really. Watch tv and likely nod off around 10pm :o might even treat myself and make some popcorn :D
