New Year's Eve

We must have the most alpha Frenchie in history.

Sounds like a bombing raid going on, we’re letting off super loud fireworks and having to stop him running up the garden to get at em!

To be honest I did really enjoy the March/April lockdown. I know that it was absolutely awful for many, many people, but things were OK on my side and, being the ambivert that I am I really relished the quiet on public transport and outside. It was bliss. Sorry to all the people who had a dreadful time though, and are still doing so as a result.

I know what you mean, when we all came together and there was a real feeling of we are in it together, the old blitz spirit and all that. When everyone was cycling and walking and it was new and a novelty. There was a true feeling of the community again with people looking out for each other.

I might take my car for spin through my local town to see how many people out...

The last 5 to 10 years have been nothing like it used to be, Years ago there used to be a que to get into pubs on NYE but the last 5 or so years when i been out it been pretty dead as most people seem to go houses parties or just stay home on NYE these days.

I think the slide started 20 years ago (damn is it really that long ago) when all the pubs and clubs were charging silly money to get in for the millenium and people realised you could have a damn good house party instead.

Nothing interesting here, on call from 9am for 17 days (24hr a day) so last couple of beers for me

Been on own though as my wife is a care worker and they have so many off (genuine and skiving IMO) that she went to work 8am 29/12 and is now expecting to be home on 4 Jan

Much respect.

Notes from the future:

- it's 2pm on Jan 1st here and nothing terrible has happened so far.
- daughter saw a stingray at the beach earlier.
- we watched some fireworks down at the waterfront last night. Spicy AF.
- bumped into an ex Prime Minister at the coffee shop this morning. She apologised lol.

Happy New Year, darlings xxx

Saw in the new year sat outside on my own drinking Glenfidich IPA smoking a Cuban, whilst the missus and our one year old were asleep.

Uuugh, think of all the poached egg floating around.

That pool filter's going to look like Dennis Nilsen's drain.

Sounds pretty nice, tbh.

I was watching the fireworks out my window and drinking Shiraz. There ended up being quite a lot of fireworks around Flatland. People had taken to doing their own smaller displays since there were no big, organised ones. It was actually better.

Prefer a white myself on NYE. Something refreshing and easy to quaff quite a few glasses of, like Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio.
