Are there any rumours when the next generation of consoles release date?

2010/11 would be the expected date.

I would say late 2009/ Early 2010 for the MS console, late 2015 for UK Sony Console

Nothing new in that.

I doubt Sony will be 5 years later than MS with next gen either

otherwise they are probably going to miss a gen..

PS3's hardware is actually 2 years old though, just like the Xbox360.

I hate it when people say the PS3 has only been out for a year, but its not, its been in the hands of the developers to make the games for 2 years.

PC Graphics are always a step ahead of consoles if you've got the cash to keep up.

But you cannot say that, Mass Effect looks superseded or that COD4 is unplayble on a 360 because they are great eye candy for what they are, simple easy to play games straight out of the box for a fraction of the cost.

Am i the only person who thinks we dont need a new console for ages yet? I feel like the 360 hasnt even been out very long. Even 2010 feels too soon.

I dont think that PC graphics have superceded at all
UT3 on ps3 looks stunning, as does COD4, and thats on 2 year old hardware!

I certainly don't want to be buying a new console any time soon, I'd like to see another 5/6/7 years before the next gen consoles.

To be fair a X1950 Pro graphics card can run UT3 on full at 1280x1024 (Higher than 720P IIRC) and the X1950 is 2 years or so old as well.

4 or 5 would be fine with me. 2 or 3 is too soon though.

I wouldnt mind having to fork out on next gen consoles in the next few years as long as there was a clear improvement in power and reliablity. Also the ability for BC of ALL previous console games. Im sure there is still a lot more to come from the current consoles as the programming becomes better, but as with all technology there is always something new just on the horizon.

If it comes in December 2010 that's half a decade.

Erm, thats less than 3 years away and its not even half a decade.

Microsoft has only sold 14 millions in the past 2 years and since they have spent so much money on reliability and developments...I doubt they would want to risk by spending any more money for further development and lose their customers faith.

The reason xbox 360 came out sooner than expected is because Microsoft knew they had to release their console before PS3, to take a bigger slice of PS2 stronghold market.

I'm willing to bet it's 2012 at the earliest but if they actually did it by 2010 then it's a bye bye Microsoft!

I think M$ are going to try and keep the 360 as current gen for as long as they can, but they'll definitely want to release their next one before Sony's again after how successful a move it was for them.
