So just wondering who will buy the next gen consols day one?

If you have decided to opt for PS5 or project scarlet? Maybe even both.

I suppose right now my decision is based on what's gone on this gen but If I can it will be both on day one if not ill choose ps5

Mods: I started a new thread as if discused or mention either Consol it's in rival thread people end up throwing dummy out (basing that on previous discussions)

Day one for both for me, I'll get my money's worth before the price drops happen so no point hanging around as I'd only regret it when everyone is picking up theirs.

Day one PS5 for me, the PS4 and PS4 Pro have both given me so much value for money - it won't even be a question when the 5 comes out. Doubt I'll bother with the next Xbox though, the Xbone lacks so much (imo), that it mainly gathers dust in my living room - and I cannot see that changing with the next gen xbox.

I hope that Microsoft learn how to number their consoles.
I have an Xbox 1. It was released in 2002 in the UK.

I bought a release day PS2....it chewed the discs. So did the replacement. So did the replacement replacement. Now I tend to wait a while for the dust to settle before jumping in.

I skipped the Xbox One launch and only picked one up about a year and a half ago. I'll be onboard with a day one purchase of one of the new MS consoles this time around. Halo will hopefully be amazing, and with a Game Pass or Game Pass Ultimate sub, we'll see what else comes along!

When throwing £500 on a game console plus a £60 game, I'd need to see reviews as 'hopefully amazing' isn't enough!

You won't be paying £60 though. It'll release on Game Pass, which you can usually find deals on. As a current Xbox One owner, I'll most likely have an active subscription to Game Pass so it'll be free :)

Fair enough.
My main interest is around the price vs. performance. PC hardware is extortionate now with a flagship video card along being £1000.
4 x the Xbox One X power would be awesome, but I can't see it being possible for a sensible price.

PS5 day one for me. Xbox just don’t have any decent first-party titles imo. The PS4 and Pro has been a fantastic console with some tremendous games.

The only question is whether to get Cyberpunk for PS4 or wait for the ps5? (Hopefully patched).

For anybody without a decent hdr tv start saving! Also depending on how the 120hz works out it might be a new tv in 18 months time. Gaming keeps getting more expensive haha.

Remember though that it's unusual for a console maker to actually make money on the console. They rely on the services, accessories and games for that. Margin on the console itself is usually quite low, if any at all.

PS5 will be day one for me. I have given up on Xbox due to lack of decent exclusives, sick and tried of Gears of War, Halo, Forza etc. A great console is nothing without the software to back it up.

PS5 day one, as above, the lack of decent exclusives have killed the Xbox this generation for me and I will wait to see if that improves for the next

If I get a a day one console it will likely be XB, especially now I have an ultimate sub until 2021.

Yeah game exclusives may be lacking but hopefully that will improve.

I might even wait a little to see how the new consoles review. I always find launch consoles have some issue of some kind, my last day 1 console lasted a month.

I've never had any issues with any console bar the 360 which was notoriously bad. It was even on watchdog, etc.

I believe the PS2 got louder over time nothing an opening up and a good lean wouldn't have resolved and all my consoles got hammered back in the day too.

The 360 is the only one I had die but I didn't know a single person that had one which survived. It was like a 100% failure rate on them only a matter of time when. Even the 2-3 replacements sent out both died before I eventually got rid of it.

PS2 was phenomenal and the only issue I heard of was people using them standing up instead of flat. apparently lasers motor died prematurely due to that.
