Next generation nvidia graphic cards ...where are they?

What would be the justification to shareholders for leaving money on the table?

Selling a boatload of graphics cards and ensuring that their only competitor AMD cannot match them without losing money, as AMD cannot compete with NVidia at the moment and doing so without being anti competitive.

Since gpu pricing and ram pricing seeming to go up every day atm i'd say the next gen Nvidia cards will cost more than the last. Even if Nvidia try and look like a good guy by listing a low price for it we all know when we get it from retailers it wont be cheap .

If Nvidia's next xx80 card costs over £700 then I'm officially out of PC gaming, I know we live in a capitalist society but greed can really ruin some thing, I bought a 1080 Ti FE for £649 on launch day, Any higher and it's a big nope.

I'm still on my launch day 980Ti, it only has a hybrid cooler on. I've been holding out for Volta/Ampere; and I'll also decide what to do about it all then.

Prices are not looking fun.

If consoles slowed down progress the same argument would apply to entry level GPUs.
Actually since console devs have to squeeze every last iota of power out of a relatively limited hw budget, it might well be the case that hardware utilisation improves thanks to consoles. Ie, software has to be as efficient as possible.

If your hw power envelope keeps growing and growing, you have (perhaps) less incentive/need to focus on efficiency.

Not saying that's always true, but it sounds like a reasonable assumption :p The consoles do, after all, have pretty anaemic per-core CPU performance, for example.

anyone any links to the next generation nvidia cards? Surely someone must have something? I was quoted within three months. Anyone any more clarity on this?

Was under the impression this year would be full of ti of existing cards and the latest cards were to hold the awards for the next twelve months. Anyone correct that?
Why release new cards when your current ones are selling like hot cakes and your competition is significantly behind? Even if they have something ready to go, I doubt they'd release it as soon as they possibly can.

An assumption based on prices. I don't see why prices across the board would rise if they aren't selling?

My logic is that they've been available so long that those who want them are diminishing in number, and those who own them are ready to upgrade.

This is also an assumption, BTW.

You might be right regarding gamers but are you taking into account miners?

the new cards will be better miners, bringing out a new one makes sense as there's a massive amount of demand

Honestly bit currencies should be outlawed. It's estimated that miners consume 40 Tera Watt hours of energy every year, and this when we are supposed to be reducing energy consumption to stop damage to our planet. Course I am a bit biased because I find it really frustrating that these people are grossly inflating the cost of video cards. I normally buy a new card every generation but I can see myself not being able to justify that at current prices.

I'd say miners were more likely to upgrade to better performance than gamers would, due to it being a business decision as opposed to a leisure decision.
True but it's all about power per watt for them, plus gaming power doesn't necessarily translate to hashing power.
