*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

Whats the battery life like on the nexus 5? i have a nexus 4 and the only thing that ever bothered me was the battery life, is there an improvement?

So many factors involved. Some Android issues, some others. For instance, mines currently been unplugged 12hrs and currently at 80% left, but thats only with 1hour screen on. Wifi on all day.

Some days at work when on 3G, it can drain the battery and be at 60% after 9hrs, other times 80%.

Lots of screen on time on 3G aint gonna last a whole day imo, but not many phones will either...

Poor signal absolutely hammers battery.

If Android OS is taking up a lot of battery, clear data for the various Play frameworks and reboot.

Mine has been on battery for 18 hours with 2 hours screen on time and I'm at 60%.

hmm Was going to buy one of these today for the other half for mothersday but all these battery issues is putting me off.

I know she be whining if she comes home from work jumps on the phone to facebook/gamming for it to not last the day.
Also I don't like the idea of when she has to do evening shift and close up the store for her not to have decent battery life.

she be comming from a 4s which i can sell for £120 so the outlay is not that bad :/

I get 2 days out of my battery.

BUT because I work in France my phone is in aeroplane mode for about 8 hours a day. Which I am pretty sure is why ;)

Thats true, when Ovivo went down, so just signal for calls/texts no 3G etc, after 9hrs of being unplugged it still had 95% battery remaining! no much screen on time either since it was basically a Nokia.

I've had mine since launch, and really struggling to see how anyone is having battery issues.
Unless you're going full retard and using it as a games console or don't actually have a job to do and are watching cat videos all day it should last a day easily.
I use mine for almost all my email needs both business and personal, remoting in to sites that need assistance and WhatsApp is countering away all day and I've never managed to completely drain the battery either abroad or in the UK.

I had some battery issues at first, but after a wipe my battery life has doubled. Even when I try to drain it as fast as I can I get 4-5hours of usage. This is generally with heavy gaming or watching 10bit video files.

There is no battery issue.

You just need to be smart. If your playing intence games with the screen on the whole time you will kill it early. People need to check stats and see what eats it.

BBC app, PayPal will be updating all the time. Gotta swipe that away.

Define 'Heavy Use' What are you doing on it.

Batt Stats would help :)

If I use it through the day, texting etc it lasts all day, but heavy use, such as streaming music while at work, or playing a game, the phone will be dead in a few hours.

The main reason I carry a spare charger with me in the car.

Had the phone a couple of months now and I also have no issues with the battery life. I usually get between 3-4 hours of screen on time depending on usage, which is pretty much par for phones these days. I wouldn't let the battery life put you off in any way.
