*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

Hmm Saturday delivery would be fantastic, but I fear that may be too Optimistic. So most are looking at Monday.

I'm really considering this as an upgrade from my Galaxy Note 1. I don't use the "Note" features much but I do enjoy the large display.

I was considering the G2 previously but waited to see what the N5 would bring. Any idea what the Camera on the N5 is like yet? It really needs to be better than the Note for me to make the jump.

Also the 2300mAh battery is a concern. I easily get a day with moderate use on the Note with 2700mAh aftermarket battery. Is the N5 an all day device?

It's a bit of a harsh comparison comparing the 1020 to the N5. The 1020 is in a class of it's own as a camera, nothing comes close yet on a mobile device.

Much more interested to see S4, HTC One, LG G2, iphone 5c etc vs the N5.

Although I'm guessing that the shots were fairly low light? Seems pretty good for low light compared to the N4.

So, I picked one up from CPW on the way home tonight... And now don't seem to be able to cancel the one I ordered on Google Play. Had a long chat with a a lady on the phone about how I have to wait for UPS to deliver and refuse delivery, even though it isn't going to be dispatched for a few days.

Has anyone had any luck cancelling over the phone?

+1 1020 is kinda like the mother of phone Cameras :p but not too bad on the Nexus, would be interesting to see without the flash, 1020 should own tbh.

Wow that's a shockingly good show from the N5 there. No flash low light I would expect it to look terrible compared to the 1020. Actually it's done surprisingly well!

Miles better then the N4 in low light conditions if those shots are anything to go by!

LOL, fair enough. Didn't realise the 1020 was the pureview 42 gigamegaterrahyperpixle one.

Was only the 5mp shot though didn't use the 34 mp shot.

Will do some outside comparisons tomorrow, I won't use zoom though as the Lumia with its lossless zoom is in a class of its own.

The lumia was the 5mp shot as before. Both shots are low light its just a light in the corner on.
Automatic settings on both, you can get much better shots in manual on the Lumia.

Nexus no flash.

Nexus has got an some very aggressive noise reduction going on there, to the point of losing lots of quality (look at the lightswitch for instance).

That said, it's better than I was expecting for a dimly-lit indoor scene, so should be perfectly fine for snapshots (with the flash). :)

You spelt "pixel" wrong. :p

Comparing the N5 to the 1020 isn't really fair. You'd expect the 1020 to win every time and it does.
Personally I'd prefer to see some N5 shots out in the open in good light as that's where most people will use it and expect good performance. Any chance you can take some shots tomorrow and share them?

Will do mate, I will do the same with video and upload them.

So what use is the "Tap & Pay" option for us guys here in the UK?

Also found the location of the speaker is rather annoying when watching video or listening to music in landscape as my hand mutes it.

What are your impressions of the phone so far in general? Happy with it?

Any faults or problems crop up yet?

Seems nice so far screen is lovely and its a nice sized phone, feels odd being off Android past few months and using it again after WP7.
