Yeah mine is still going. It's either not going to boot as I didn't want to wipe, or it's rebuilding the ART cache and not telling me about it.

Will have to leave it for a good while (think it was about 20 mins before I could use my phone after 4.4.4 update) before I'll know which.

Well I went back to 4.4.4 and hardly anything works properly, so I'm now having to wipe the phone and start fresh. Damn it all.

Probably the same reason I didn't, usually you just flash the older factory image and be on your way
