*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

Never bothered myself. For me I just wanted the google experience no mucking around. Been Rooting and romming to long on other handsets

Finally took the plunge after around 8 months of liking it, to replace my 3 year old S2.

£22/month for 300mins, unl text, 2gb data on three. Was paying £13 sim only for similar deal before so extra £9x24 months works out at £216, which is pretty good.

Going for the Spigen Neo Hybrid case I think and need to decide on whether to get a wireless charger for work too - would like one that acts as a stand too.

a lot of apps I use require root, plus I like the fact that I have complete control over the OS.

ParanoidAndroid is a good ROM for the stock and pure android experience, with added features such as Hover (floating notification window) very handy, and Peek (notification quick view while phone is locked)
Along with CM's Theme manager which is AWESOME.

There are so many reasons to root.

Suggest you visit the Nexus 5 section at XDA forums and read up, there is quite a bit to it.

I've just stuck to stock with Franco kernel. Looks like too much effort to change when I'm already happy with it.

One thing I've been meaning to ask for months... What on earth is BusyBox? I keep reading about how 'good' it is and all that, but I still have no idea what it does or why I need it...

People with the White Nexus 5:

Does the earpiece annoy you or do you mistake it for the notification light at times?

I want a Black Nexus 5 32Gb but its out of stock on Play so considering the White version.....

Same here, once you start playing I tend to get either bored or something is just not right with it and I have to start over again, I prefer to leave it stock other than Nova

Only reasons I root is for Xposed as I need to fix Android, but a lot of the things I hated are better now in L, e.g. quick settings was stupid when you look at it from a UX point of view, some of the settings are touch to toggle, others are hold to toggle, some take you too their respective settings page, its like wtf.

Didn't notice this thread :O

I have had a Nexus 5 for about three months, and tend to use the Mahdi ROM found on XDA-developers.
Sometimes though, I build my own from source, depending how I feel :p

My only gripe about this device, is the battery life, it isn't the greatest in the world. But I like the overall quality and slimness of the phone.

Modding android is so awesome :D

yes I just bought a white Nexus 5 on MM and while I love it I was confused at the start as coming from moto g which has a white notification light near speaker I kept getting confused every time I looked at the phone. Over it now though after a few days

This phone is so easy to root and then customise it's actually ridiculous.

I really hope Google don't kill off the Nexus line. The phones may not always have the latest and greatest specs (because they're usually released before the newest phones the next year) but the ability to easily root and customise the phone is worth it for sure.

You could say that the other way though as the phones are usually the highest spec for a good 4-5 months if they are released in November.
