*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

First impressions.

Omgz it's fast!

It feels like a quality phone in the hand.

The screen is fantastic! I can't stop looking at it! I have grown tired of the over saturated AMOLED screen of my S3. This screen just looks naturally stunning.

Oh and IT'S BLAZING FAST ;)

Just received mine. No real update on the Parcel force website. It just says it's been loaded on the van still haha. Yay!

Cheers, Lightflow seems to do the trick, SMS for example Hangouts doesn't appear to have options for colour etc, lightflow seems to add some nice features anyway :)

See I almost miss the over saturated colours of the S2, the N5 looks almost washed out colour wise in comparison (although I realise they're probably more accurate), but the screen itself is lovely, comparing a 4.3" 800x480 screen to a 5" 1080p screen I'm wondering why I stuck with the S2 for so long, so much nicer :D

Hi. does nexus 5 take a nano or micro sim?

It is different but you'll get used to it. I found them rentna burning on the S3. The colours on the Nexus 5 are far more accurate.

Is anyone's Nexus 5 coming from the Solent depot?

Mine's been "Loaded on van for delivery" but no sign of it yet.

Agreed about AMOLED screens, my brother had a Galaxy Note 1 and I thought the screen looked hideous compared to my iPhone 5 at the time.

He's got a Note 2 now which is better but I'm all for a quality IPS LCD screen.

Looking forward to this when I get home!

The wife (and the parcelforce website) have advised that my N5 has been delivered!

:)

Easy Q for you guys well two actually.....
1 - how do you add other email accs in gmail, I've signed in with my main one but also use another two - blown if I can find the 'add account' bit?
2 - so this hang outs malarkey, the texting thing, that doesn't use SMS it's data based like whatsapp? so uses data or wifi not sms allowance/cost?

1. If it's like all other Android phones then it's add account under settings in the phone itself, not the gmail app.
2. Not a clue, yet!

It doesn't work as it should just yet for the Nexus 5.. the developer is working on it.

Ah, fair enough, what doesn't it do properly out of curiosity, seems to work for my but obviously not used it on any other device...

1 - Go to Settings -> Accounts -> Add Account, you add it from there then it'll appear in gmail
2 - Yep, so if you pick the email address option at the top of the screen when writing to someone it'll send it via hangouts, which used to be google talk, which is pure data with a conversation history stored in the cloud, this is the same as you can access from the sidebar of gmail on a pc browser. If you select the phone number option it sends via sms.

I'm kinda disappointed that they didn't merge the two into a seamless conversation tbh...

Had mine since 9.. Only played for 10 mins :) I'll snap some comparison shots between my oppo and n5 and I'll compare the screens too! Oppo has a brilliant screen so its worth comparing them both being LCD.. :)
