*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

True. and people have differing standards/expectations on screen quality.

I've had many devices now and this screen is below par in terms of viewing angles.

Not a real biggy for most people, but is is for me.

Probably best that you sell/return your N5 then if that's the case.

Makes you wonder why you bought it in the first place....

Have you opened it and checked it out for yourself? The screen has viewing angles on par with my brothers HTC One. It looks good at an angle!

The Oppo clearly does better as per the video, but my god those are some godly viewing angles, realistically the viewing angles are good enough that in normal use there will be no issues at all. It's a huge improvement on the Nexus 4.

Can't see the video above but I will say the viewing angles are pretty good. The screen seems to dim a little when it's about 40 degs from the eye but beyond that it hardly dims any further. I can still read text when it's almost perpendicular to my eyes.

I have both HTC One and N5 infront of me - a stark contrast mark.

Reminds me very much of the N4.

glad you agree with me on the n4 bit! :) oppo does have EPIC viewing angles.. epic screen in general.. its a good benchmark tbh and it just shows how different nexus 5 is ! :) but I do like the phone over all and it'll do just fine.. unless I get bored of it! boom.

Yes - I set it to US on start-up

HTC One is great too - need a head to head :D

Went from Htc One to N5. viewing angles are far from poor. get very slight colour shift on certain colors at silly angles.

Overall I dont feel I have downgraded at all. Battery seems better, camera IS better imho. 4.4 is a huge bonus but you have the whole just root the htc one argument.

Couldnt be happier.

The Nexus 5 is not available on my carrier over in the States :(
However, the LG G2 is, which is meant to be slightly better phone right? Just slightly too big IMO.
I picked up the MotoX at the weekend and absolutely love it! Everything about it, except for one major issue, only 16gb with no micro sd card :(
Not sure on what to do now.

I don't think there's much difference between oppo and HTC One tbh.. :) I've played with htc one and I didn't notice any problems with the screen and I've had find 5 for ~6months(a bit feed up with ROM's tbh)

Well I am sat here with my Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 in hand, and the difference is night and day. Tilt the Nexus 4 and the colours wash out and start going hazy at moderate angles. Similar angles on the Nexus 5 maintain colour and quality.

Still not arrived, they are cutting it close given they stop delivering at 5:30. I won't be happy if it doesn't show up today.

Same here, out of the same Leeds depot. Says it's on the van still but its 16:42 so don't expect it to be here today.

I only ordered it from play store because someone said they use TNT, if i had known it was coming via Parcel Farce i would have waited a few days and gone to CPW.

This kind of crap is the exact reason, they just never show on the day they're meant to. Every single time with Parcel force, and its usually the same driver. Boils my **** something rotten.

Yeah didn't think so but would be nice to compare.

I have no doubt the N5 screen is better than the N4. I just meant it had the similar viewing angle characteristics when compared to the One.
