*** Nexus 7 2nd Gen thread ***

for anyone wondering about chromecast there is an app which turns any android device basically into chromecast for free.

think it's called cheapcast.

therefore if you have a android phone, you can use that as chromecast as you mess around with the tablet.

Just ordered a 32GB version for £208 inc express delivery which was £5 from tesco using this code : TDX-MJGQ & £16 of club card points. I pre-ordered the 16Gb before for the £199 so for an extra £8 im pretty damn happy! The code should save you about £22 quid!

I'm back from Canada! Had a great time!

Waiting for me at home was my N7 V2. First impressions are it is fantastic! I cannot get over how fast it is. It is definitely the fastest Android device I've ever used. I've used a number of custom ROMs on my original N7 but even the fastest N7 ROMs cannot compete to the speed of a stock out the box N7 v2. It really flies. It's jaw dropping. Hands down the fastest Android device I've used.

What really makes the N7 V2 a winner though is the display, resolution and colour rendition are leaps above the N7. It just looks incredible! The increased resolution allows for reading of technical PDFs without continuously zooming in and out. Small text is now legible and websites look so much fuller!

My worry of the battery life being rubbish were not needed. I'm finding battery life to be better than the N7, standby time is especially better.

My 2p case has also arrived today. I was starting to get annoyed as it was meant to be delivered last week, Amazon were about to raise the question to the supplier. None the less, I'm actually really impressed with it! The fit is very good, which is surprising as these cases must have been designed and knocked out the production line very quickly. The build quality is also pretty decent!

Pics!

Strange question, but how close does the screen feel/look to the front glass? Not used the old N7 but I know with some tablets there can be a decent gap between the glass and the actual screen.

I bet the gap is tiny as reviews would have picked up on it if it was big.

Very excited about getting my hands on one of these when they supposedly release on the 28th of this month! I do hope Google fix the GPS and touch screen issues by then though, please be software and not hardware.
If you ask me, people are just too picky, but then I only say that because I've managed to live with my original Nexy for three years running a fairly unstable custom ROM. I'd have upgraded to the Nexus 4 but just didn't feel the need to, therefore I place my hope upon the rumoured Nexus 5. :D

As I recall, there is also a port available for the RPi.

A quick comparison with the Nexus Gen One:

Slightly longer and not as wide.
The screen is lovely.

fm3l.jpg

It's much thinner.
Feels lighter.
Nice nicer feel in the hand.

You get a system update as soon as you are on wifi:

This brings the Gen 2 wallpaper that is missing from the build that comes with the tablet.

The keyboard click volume is loud so this is how to change it:

1.With the Google Keyboard open, long press on the microphone icon until the settings button appears, then release.

2. Tap "Google Keyboard Settings." (From here you can completely disable audio feedback for the keyboard by unchecking "Sound on key press.")

3. Scroll down and tap "Advanced settings."

4. Tap "Keypress sound volume" and use the slider to set the level to your preference.

I'm on the iPad 3 now at home and I'm already annoyed holding it and typing lol.imjust couldn't use this on the fly when travelling. Good for browsing the net on the sofa though lol. Which is why we have 3 of them in the household lol.
