The HTC media player in the Desire ROM is MUCH nicer.... MIGHT be possible to pull it from that ROM and push it to a rooted phone....

Im not rooting until that full desire rom is out in the wild. I dont want to put an alpha rom on the phone just yet.

I realy want to try HTC sense

Always been a common complaint of HTC manufactured phones i'm afraid.
 
What's the deal with getting this phone direct from Google? Do you just order it on the website, they send it to the UK, DHL delivers it and you get a customs bill in the post?

Yeah that's pretty much it. Although i'm still waiting for the bill through the post about a month later. It's fine by me though, they can keep that part of it if they like :p
 
Right, just bought one. I wasn't 100% sure about it, so I hope I don't get buyers remorse! Ah I can always sell it on eBay if I decide not to keep it I guess.
 
Loving that desire HTC SENSE rom. Had no issues with alpha 12.

This is the first phone i have fiddled with for 3 months solid without being bored!

Right I need help boys! I've had the phone ages now and the internet's been working fine with one of the APN's I got on the O2 forums but I can't for the life of me get MMS working. I'm on O2 payasyougo web and text - tried in chomp and handcent. Can anyone get me a working APN?

I just sent myself an mms and it worked thereafter. You tried that?
 
Hmm. I'm in two minds about this. The impulse purchaser part of me says to import it and get an O2 simplicity contract.

The sensible part of me says to wait and see how much O2 will offer it for with contract when it's released here. It seems really silly to pay the unlocked price and then just put it on contract anyway.

Apparently the UK release will have multi touch too?

It already has multitouch. There was a OTA update.

The prices sim free here are going to more than importing. This is what i did.


Got a HTC HD2 on virgin £70 handset and an unlimited web and text contract for £25 P/M plus £30 cashback using quidco. 18 months

Sold HTC HD2 for £400 on ebay. Purchased nexus one for £350 from google.

I realy dont see o2 doing a an 18 month deal for only £25 a month with a free handset. It will be a £35 a month jobbie with a £100 fee for the phone
 
Hmm. Doing the math and you're probably right.

Assuming the worst at a 24 month contract at £35 a month say, plus £100 for the phone, that's £940.

If importing comes to £480 and I can put that on a £20 per month contract, then that's £960 over the same time.

I don't think you're going to get a Desire or N1, with unlimited data, for free unless you're paying around £35pm over 2 years. That works out at £840

Buying it unlocked will cost you around £440 total and a £15pm sim only deal over 2 years will cost you £360, so the total cost is £800.

There's not much difference cost-wise.

This shows the weather feature. If the weather is cloudy (like now) clouds roll across the screen. If its raining rain hits the screen. Very nice effect
