***Nexus One Thread***

When will we be able to buy it sim free in the UK?

Its been on sale sim free for use in the UK since January - google.com/phone

You need to add 17.5% import duty to the price of that, which UPS will bill you for later

If you're scared of importing it from the states (Still don't understand those people) then get a Desire ;)

But you want a Nexus ;)

I want a Nexus but I want to buy a UK version. I want a UK warranty and I want to know exactly how much it will cost me without having to work out exchange rates from my bank card.

There is no difference between between UK and US models.

All come with full HTC International Warranty, I had an issue with mine, called HTC UK, they had the phone collected an hour later, and I had it back again in a few days. Less hassle than going into a highstreet phone store based on my previous experiences ;)

The point about exchange rates is valid, granted, but its only gunna be +-£10 either side of your banks exchange rate today

Its not so radically different from a Desire, especially if you're not going to tinker with it and/or use it for app development, so if it has to have a fixed price then get the Desire

not sure but this thread is full of people using the 'US ones' in the UK with no 3g problems ? or when you order one to be delivered to UK do you get one with different specs ?

Surely there is a fundamental and massive difference - the UK handsets are 2100Mhz 3g and the US ones are 1900Mhz?

The Nexus One/Desire antenna supports four GSM radio frequencies (850/900/1800/1900) and three 3G/UMTS Bands - 1/4/8 (2100/AWS/900). These cover most major GSM mobile providers worldwide.

This is going to be the same for most modern smart phones which is why we can usually roam abroad with our UK phones.

im off to try my luck tommorow to see if Vodafone will buy me out of my 18month contract with T-mobile (contract finishes early Aug). Been waiting for the N1 for too long and need one badly.

So wish me luck

Been speaking to Voda about Nexus's and apparently the price plans aren't very flexible :( You might be better going online and getting £150 cashback via quidco :)

Vodafone themselves never offer cashback so wont be able to buy you out of your T-Mobile contract. Your best bet for that is somebody like Phones4U, who IIRC dont offer the Nexus One.

Not sure I understand all the fuss about this phone. An interesting Desire alternative but when its loads more expensive than a Desire why bother? Wait until its the same sort of money.

This is why I just went and bought an N1 from Google direct. £400 all in, expensive I know but no hassle really.

just a heads up, the cashback takes 3 months to come through. And the 1st £5 of all your cash backs @ quidco go back to them. So if you get 2 nexus ones you'll get £295 back. (assuming your a new user like me)

Well didnt come back with a new N1 today, but the guy in the shop told me he could offer me 2 months free but ofc thats not really an option (I want to keep my number and havent got the money to spend on the other 2 months). So he said he will contact "head office" and tell them my situation and he said hes pretty sure that they will buy me out.

I will hear from them in the next few days

Nor do I, the only differences I can see is no HTC Sense, and the Desire uses optical mouse thing.

Which make the Desire better imo.

You can't actually preorder, just enters your email address to register interest.

Still I've registered my interest for both the dock and the car dock, would love to have both at US prices. I can pay £35 and £30, but not the £80-90 they are on ebay or £100 from Google US at the moment!
