Not quite true... The nexus one base of users will contain more 'power users' than the desire base. Although opening up the desire will get them some more users / downloads im sure they'll stay faithful the base that helped them.

in other words the desire (to borrow a phrase from a great film) is the diet coke of the android 2.1 phones.


Nexus one = Yorkie, Lion Bar, Snickers
Desire = Fairy Milk (typo intended :P)
 
But basically, neither is better its down to personal preference on style and the sense UI, both are great Android phones, and we are all on the same side (ie Android's side)

Always going to be mini fan battles though! I like my N1 and wouldn't swap for the Desire (I could have done so)
 
ARGH anyone got a DL for EPE76 ROM as everyone I have downloaded I keep getting error (bad) in recovery! =[

Do I need the stock recovery?

So I decided to apply the free screen protector that came with my Case-Mate Barely There case today, never used one before so no idea how long it will last before it starts to peel away.

Couldn't get it on at all at first so decided to wash it with some warm water and apply again and its gone on perfect, after around 10 minutes of filtering out the air bubbles and water it looks fine, will post up some pictures soon, its not bad for a freebie which I wasn't expecting!

Have you gotten this resolved?
1) Always Nandroid as a first step in recovery and just roll back to a working backup
2) Always do a complete wipe before flashing new ROM's, especially when switching ROM types ie Cyan to Desire or stock etc

Can't see your post on XDA, but I wasn't really trying tbh :p What's the error? I assume it starts the flashing process then fails?

Yeah its the same error that you get when a rom zips corrupt, I have downloaded numerous times but still getting the same error.

I have wiped every setting via recovery as well before flashing from zip to make sure and have multiple backups! =\

Is it just the one ROM that doesn't work or all of them? Might be an SU issue

This is surprising because nobody expected HTC to release the source any time soon.

...which also means Paul's MoDaCo Desire port should get to Gold in the next few weeks!
 
I still don't know why no one seems to mention the trackball lighting up as a MASSIVE advantage the N1 has over the desire!

It's so useful for notifications.
 
Heads up chaps, just rang my home insurance people (Endsleigh) and asked them about their mobile phone cover which I've had on my policy since last summer. They told me it doesn't cover phones bought from outside the UK, which means my Nexus (bought from Google's webstore) is totally uninsured.

Bunch of ******** monkeys, what the fudge does it matter if it was bought from the US? I bought it, I have the receipt, GTFO plz.

Now off to find someone who will insure it. Not impressed.

EDIT: Managed to get Vodafone to cover it. Still not happy though, that's £120 for the year.

reflux, cancel it mate... and get yourself a premium bank account.

something like £15-£25 will have mobile phone insurance for you and a partner... gadget insurance (laptops, netbooks, satnavs). Travel insurance including winter sports for the family. Home emergencies like burst pipes or boiler failure.

Much better value than £10 a month just for a phone. Bare in mind items are only covered after 21 days of registration. but even accidental dmg and water dmg are covered.
