***Nexus One Thread***

lucky the guy who was selling one bundled with his phone split for me :x

(i wish could change the screensaver clock mode from green to blue though...)

R.I.P Nexus one, Cant believe Google killed you :(

Still the best android phone around at the moment if you don't want an interfering skin and want to have the latest android builds

I just got one from Vodafone on Friday, the missus wanted a Wildfire but they didn't have any stock; she got the N1 for free (same contract as she wanted the Wildfire on) and gave the phone to me, the deal is that I now buy her a sim-free Wildfire... N1 for £220? Hell yes.

By the way, I love the phone. Coming from a Hero it's unbelievably quick and the screen is fantastic, it's actually enjoyable to browse the net on a phone now!

:D

i finally get my N1 next week on Vodafone. However im a terrible noob, what sites would you guys recommend me do some reading to catch up on? like wth is "rooted/rooting" your phone?

Like i said im a complete android noob.

@Stoke, RIP N1????:confused:

[edit] Also with the VAT increase comming in Jan, will Vodafone increase their monthly contract pricing or what? I know my current contract with T-mobile states if they increase my monthly price ice got legal right to pull out. I know Voda also had something like that about a year ago where they up'd the price and people were able to cancel their contracts mid term.[/edit]

Google have stopped selling the N1.

T-Mobile or Voda aren't increasing your monthly contract. The VAT element is going up and its out of their control. If it went down would you have asked the same question? Over the past 18months I would have though they had wised up to the possiblity of VAT changes and (re)worded their contracts accordingly.

I'm still confused as to whether or not google are selling the N1 in the states through carriers.

Only HTC have just released a press release saying the Nexus One and the Desires will now be shipping with Super LCD screens and not AMOLED as there is a shortage on these.

The N1 won't go for any more second hand in the UK because while only vodafone sell them, they are unlocked devices. So in the UK market nothing has changed regarding the N1.

Anyone else here with WiFi issues? I've done a search and there are loads of people complaining about the N1 wifi disconnecting when going to sleep and it's happening on my phone too :(

Mine does turn off when the phone goes to sleep which is fine as its not being used? Takes a couple of seconds to connect back to my wifi when I take it out of standby.

Normally it wouldn't be an issue but I use DoggCatcher (pod catcher) to grab my podcasts every hour and it can't/won't wake up the wifi like it usually does on my Hero - it's apparently a known problem with the N1.

get spare parts, and then change the wifi sleep policy..

Thanks :) I'll give it a try.

Have you changed the wifi sleep policy so it never turns off?

Press Menu button>Settings>Wireless & Networks>Wi-Fi settings>Menu button>Advanced>Wi-Fi sleep policy. Change to 'Never'.

OH NOES!!!!!

Droped from about hip height didnt thiink there would be enough contact to smash the screen but there was :(

HTC sending UPS to get the phone at a cost of £58 for new screen. Maybe i will get one of these super LCD's as the AMOLED is in shortage! Hope its better for outdoors

Thanks for the suggestion but it appears my phone is one of the ones with the WiFi Sleep Policy problem. It's well documented here: http://www.google.co.uk/support/forum/p/android/thread?tid=01a47ff5b0a92d52&hl=en&start=640 and here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731395

Basically the power saving feature in some Nexus One's will ignore the WiFi Sleep Policy setting and turn it off whenever you turn off the screen. There is an app out there (WiFi Fixer) which fixes some peoples issues (it seems to have fixed mine) at the expense of battery life.

Boo :(
