Nexus Prime

Hand in front of Xbox Game to let you get a better judge at how big they are. Maybe I hold the iPod Touch wrong? :D

CPU is not GPU, and the GPU in the OMAP4460 is a little lacking compared to what's current in the market.

I know that :p

Couldn't be assed typing all the component stuff.

As I and others have said though why does that matter for real world use?

Do you really need to have the latest and greatest tech when with your usual usage (just going to take a guess, watching a few videos, phone, email, text, browsing, games, navigation) you won't even be able to tell the difference will you? Maybe an odd bit of small lag in an app, moving to homescreen etc. which will be due to the code/programming not the hardware.

The GS 1 etc. GPU, CPU, RAM, screen (that better?:p) is perfectly fine unless you want to be running extremely demanding things and tbh I honestly can't think of anything app wise/task wise that would benefit A LOT from a much better CPU etc. apart from the obvious things (where dual is needed) like 1080P recording, playing HD files without needing to convert and all and a couple of games maybe?

I think the OG OMAP4460/70 was designed to use UMC's high-K transistors for the higher speeds. (1.5GHz - 1.8GHz and ~400MHz for the GPU) only UMC validated high-K @ 45nm, apart from Intel who use it for all 45nm cpus (Atom not included :p)

Look's like that hasn't quite worked out and it's just a standard 4430 with a 1.2GHz overclock, the GPU won't be running at 384MHz out the box.

Doh.

Is that the technical issue caused the delay to the Archos G9 versions with the 4460? I completely forgot about that.

Not getting the 384mhz sgx540 is a bummer.

:( Surprised they've put the OMAP 4460 in it and not the 4470, the latter would make far more sense from the point of putting something competitive out there.

Apparently only available in 1H 2012 and with the above issues maybe later.

Well then I assume its going to be priced accordingly. Maybe £300? Not a chance!

I wouldn't want to buy a "top of the range" phone that isn't as good as a phone that has been out for 6 months. ICS will come to all recent handsets so they can't justify the price with the OS changes.

Why wouldn't they include the best components possible? Thats pretty much how android handsets are priced. The screen and the internals. The OS is free and you can do what you want with it so the hardware is all you are paying for. If a company chooses to put a load of their own rubbish on there then thats their choice.

Unless ICS blows my mind im just going to pick up an iphone 4s to replace my Nexus one.

ICS is supposed to have a hardware accelerated UI, along with the increase in pixel count it just seems odd that the same GPU that was in the Nexus S would be considered sufficient for this newest device.

how sure are we these are true specs?

Fairly. They are from the same company that have leaked other things and the level of detail and consistency is pretty good.

There are the promo shots of the phone, comparison spec sheets and benchmarks that have been submitted from it.

If I was making a fake of the phone, I would definitely have made it look thinner as well.

A little disappointed. It tapers at the top but doesn't look curved. I have an iPhone 4 and don't see this being a step up by much. ICS needs to be amazing for me to consider this. The specs are really underwhelming I think, I know they do not translate to real world use, but they don't compete with an iPhone 4s or even a SGS2 or the new Razr phone specs. And for gaming my iPhone 4 will knock that out of the park. Bit disappointed of true....

Of course it won't be priced at that :p, be around £450-500 basing on those specs and general new mobile with google brand name etc.

Whilst I agree it does seem a bit bizarre that they don't just use the same specs as the GS 2 or slightly better, it may be that they just don't see any need to have that kind of power when it copes perfectly fine with slightly less powerful hardware and as said before many times the average joe is not going to have a clue about specs and all, so they won't care and that is were the majority of their sales come from, not people like us who care a lot about specs and know to wait for a few months as an even better mobile is coming out or something.

The tech minded people won't buy the mobile just because it has ICS (the average joe will see that only this mobile has that style/OS and not know that other mobiles will be getting it later on) as all the current dual will probably get it anyway granted after a few months though, the main reason people are is due to it being a stock google mobile therefore no need to do anything via rooting and flashing to get the newer updates etc. or to get rid of bloatware or whatever, pure stock android experience out of the box with no hassle.

I have yet to see a nexus S or GS 1 run slow or lag real badly and have never seen any problems with the GS 2 with regards to speed/smoothness.

This is why 4.5" is stupid. It is where your thumb can reach with 1 hand.

Just tried out my S2 and my thumb movements pretty much match what's in the picture. I have small hands. Still not going to be put off though. Screen size matters to me and 3.5" is not big enough!
