NHL 14-15 season

just reminding everyone I said this in case they win the cup :p

They might end up being my only correct call out of my original bracket. I had them to win the cup in that but only put Blues because I 'wanted' them to win it. They are playing well so hard to see anyone in the East stopping them.

I'd be content with a best of 7 between the Ducks and Lightning to end a great season. I think it'd be a good series and probably very close.

I'm a fan of the Lightning and neutral regarding the Ducks.
Those damn Hawks have upped the anti though so it'll be hard for anyone to beat them now. They looked shaky at times during the season but they play their best hockey when it matters most. Preds should have knocked them out but they are despatching the Wild quite easily.

Meh we had to let the flames win at least won :p Hopefully it took their mind of the utter thrashing we gave them over the first 2 games (9 - 1 in goals).

Can still see the Ducks going through within the next 2 games.

I'm actually thinking the capitals will come out on top of the eastern conference now, only get to see the replays but their playing really well, to take the rangers to 3 - 1 is pretty epic, think they could go all the way and get a Ducks/Hawks vs Caps final! Whatever the outcome though the conference finals will be absolutely awesome to watch.

Ducks vs Hawks
Capitals vs Lightning

Very excited by the prospect of Blackhawks and Ducks, one is my adopted team and other one is my childhood one! As much as I like to see the Hawks win I think Ducks will be the ones going through.

:D:D:D Either way its going to be a cracking set of games. I'm not really sure who is going to win it, its going to be very close or a complete wipeout by 1 team.

Watched Friday's game (2:30am start!) and was awesome to watch, so much hitting from both teams, it was funny to see one of the flames fans flipping off Maroon when he scored the EN, they weren't cheering then lol

To be honest flames didn't do that bad, first 2 games for them were shockers really but after that Ramo put up some excellent saves which kept them in it most of the time, he was easily their MVP for the second round as in the last game ducks had 47 shots on goal and he only let in 3 (compared to the flames 19 and 2 let in).

hawks ducks is a must watch series for me. both teams are hammering it.

surprises of the playoffs so far for me have been the Habs seemingly falling apart, I honestly thought they were looking strong enough to just hammer through.

P.K. Saucepan not scoring any goals is making me very happy. the frustration on his stupid little face every time he hits the post makes me feel very warm inside.

can see tampa going through at this rate.

hoping Ovi comes through on his promise too and they smash the rangers later on.

lets go caps.

On paper Ducks look ever so slightly stronger but in reality their both on point through their games so far.

I'm going for Ducks in 5 :p Although saying that, I wont be disappointed if the Hawks win it, rather keep the cup in the west :)

I'm hoping for the caps to win, would be quite funny :D

I love how Chicago is classed as West.

That to me makes zero sense.

gutted for caps, hoping for a tampa/ducks final now

Technically the only team in the Central that is actually in the West is Colorado. Bit weird how it works but guess there isn't much choice if they still want West/East setup.
I always like the idea of Hawks in with the Wings though.

Caps / Rangers game was a good one like. Either team could have won that, it just took a good bounce really as both goaltenders were playing very well.

Ducks v Hawks is interesting. I'd like to see the Ducks make it through but it's hard to bet against this Hawks team. They did struggle vs Preds though and were very lucky to get through. Preds threw that series away big time.

Lightning v Rangers should put up some faced paced puck movement. If Lightning are on their game, I think they will progress.
IMO, when Lightning play their intense pace to the best of their ability they are are best team in the East and any team in the NHL would struggle to stop them.

Can't wait for the weekends games

lol nah! :D

Nice change though having 2 big opening games on a normal uk time.
Can sometimes convince a mate or two to come over and watch it on Sat night as I'm usually just by myself so it makes it a bit more social for a change.

Hoping for 2 very close series!

What a game!!! Anyone else watch it?

Loved that the Blackhawks couldn't get anything decent around the defense, some of their chances were good but a lot of them were just fire it at the goalie and hope.

If the Ducks keep playing like they are can easily see them going through, although game 3 will be the real test, winning at home is easy but winning away not so much!

I watched it on catch up this morning. Good game like. Hawks were out-shooting the Ducks early on but even at that point the Ducks looked comfortable and the Hawks were not threatening all that much or creating a lot of clear chances.

gutted Tampa lost their opening game but the Away games are always hard as you say. You need to be strong at home first and foremost then try and take it to them and steal a game Away.
If the Ducks win the next one, I think they will steal one from Chicago and take it in 5. If Chicago wins the next one, I see them taking both their home games then the Ducks coming back with 3 in a row to take it in 7.

yeah, was very enjoyable. Hawks defense seemed a little lacking but I cant say they did anything inherently wrong. just got outplayed. ggwp to the ducks really.

Cracking game last night. GO LIGHTNING!

Bishop made a couple of mistakes but has otherwise been extremely solid in the playoffs. He's improved a lot from last season.

oh dear, I said to a guy I play hockey with the other day that NYR need to stay out of the penalty box if they want to win this series. 22mins of penalty mins was not the way to go about it. They were leaving the likes of Filppula and Kucherov wide open all game which is where they went wrong. closing down Stamkos and Johnson is one thing but leaving playmakers wide open is where you get outplayed.

'The King' let over 20% of the SOG past him last night. delicious.

I may have also wound some Rangers fans up on the NHL Facebook page on Sunday night.link

So much so that this individual took to Facebook messenger to express his anger with my views.

hilarious, salty rangers fans :p

Nothing like a sports fan who can't take their team losing and others commenting on it. They tend not to be the most articulate folks at getting their own views and points across.

Mind you, growing up around Newcastle fans I'm used to mediocrity leading to disappointment in supporters - but they are usually the first ones to say how much their team sucks! haha.

I was devastated when the Blues lost but I'd moved in later that day/night. It's not exactly critical to my life! Then I just continue to enjoy the other teams

Brilliant haha

3-2 to the hawks after 3OT! I woke up and listened to the last period on the train, good game by both teams really and neither one was really better than the other, over 110 shots for the whole game!

Doesn't stop the bandwagon hawks fans from posting "oh we're the best" on ducks fb though :D Don't seem to recall their comments after the first game ;)

The bandwagoneers are strong at playoff time.

I'm watching the game.on GCL now. Up to 2nd OT. Its really edge of the seat stuff.

Would love to see another nail biter on the final like last year.

For me, the hawks/ducks series is too close to call. I had Nashville beating the hawks from the get go, but Chicago have been a real menace to defenseman when needed.

Perry grabbing Hossa's stick has had me chuckling though. Epic trolling. :D
