NHL 14-15 season

Just finished last nights Caps game, some blatant black and white calls not made by the refs (Tavares hand over the puck, high stick to Kuzy and the cheap shot from behind on Wilson after the whistle and miles from the puck), but can let that go seeing as they got proper beat ;)

So glad Kuznetsov is starting to flourish now, his confidence has been increasing throughout the season so hopefully he'll continue to get better.

Just need to close the series in the next game to give the Islanders arena a miserable send off ;)

Boyle must be upset with himself. Missing a sitter like that hurts.

Hate the pens but hoping they draw the series out as Ling as possible and wear the rangers out.

This isles/caps series is so good.

The Taveres goal just was insane.

Both teams deserve to advance really. Best hockey of the playoffs so far.

Watching the rangers brand of scrappy hockey last night was so frustrating. I hate their play style, so dirty with zero finesse.

Blues predictable in their failure once more.

You'd think I'd know better than to support such a team given everyone I have ever known in life supports Newcastle United. lol.

Feel bad for Allen but I said ages ago he wasn't ready for that level yet and that Elliot isn't a good enough No.1 either.
With a clear No.1 goaltender, I think they could have made a run at the cup but every season there is an issue that rears up and they head out in Round 1.

The loss at home when outplaying them was the end really.

Well done Wild though - hope they can go all the way

And just finished the Caps game, been painful today waiting to watch it and not check to see what the score was ;)

Kuzya saves the day again, been waiting for him to come over play for a few years now and he's really starting to make a difference. Was there at Verizon for his first game with Caps as well and when I needed a number for my jersey seemed a good choice instead of the usual 8 or 19, looks like wasn't a bad choice :)

Urgh Rangers, feels like they always have our number recently so could be interesting.

Yup I'm only at 50% so far.
Although only the Ducks/Rangers were sure things from Round 1 so it was a tough one to call.

From Round 2:

Ducks to take Flames in 6. I'm going for Home wins all round. Don't want to underestimate the Flames again but their record is horrible against the Ducks but I think they will cause them more issues than the Jets did.

Wild to beat Hawks in 7. This one will probably be the tightest of the 4 series. Hawks only advanced through outstanding goaltending and Preds inability to maintain a lead almost every single game. Wild IMO are a better team and I hope they advance.

Canadians v Tampa is hard to call. Offence vs Defence. I think Offence takes it but with some more Price magic Tampa could get frustrated and leak a few goals at their end.
Bishop has been improving though and looked sharp last night so if he plays well Tampa's offence will cause any team problems.

I see Rangers getting passed the Caps. I'll say in 6. I think NYI would have advanced if fully fit but the Caps are playing well so they certainly have a chance.

Then I'll go Ducks > Wild
Lightning > Rangers
Lightning > Ducks final.

Lets see if I can get above 50% from here...

So on to round 2!

Ducks vs Flames - I had Canucks going through on this. Still think ducks will get it.
Blackhawks vs Wild - i had Wild vs Preds on this. Close to call. think Chicago may take this one.
Canadians vs Lightning - got this one right - think it will be the Habs though
Rangers vs Capitals - right again on this. Hoping its Caps.

My bracket is pretty much half been destroyed now so looking forward to the games :D

my bracket challenge has gone pretty well, only went wrong on my wildcard pick for nashville over chicago and the wrong call on canucks.

Unsurprised at the Bolts/wings series going the way it did. Kronwall or not, the Wings were missing sitters all night last night.

Well good games to begin the second round.

Woke up this morning to see the Ducks thrashed the flames 6-1! Wasn't really that surprising really, its a team who took our rejected goalie from last year and thought it would be a good idea to start him at the home ice of his previous team, got taken off after 3 goals, Must've rattled him a bit as all you could see was orange!

If the Ducks continue playing like this I can see them taking the cup.

Capitals/rangers game surprised me a bit, watching the replys the capitals were easily the stronger team and the last second goal was a wicked play by Ovechkin who played right till the end, nearly jumped out my train seat when it went in :D

I credit the Flames for having the belief and determination to get this far but there comes a time when pure talent and skill completely over shadows that effort and this is certainly as far as they go.

Ducks didn't look that great in the regular season but they did what they had to do and now they are playing a lot better - this is how teams win the cup. Just do the business, get to the playoffs then go up a gear or 3.

Blues do the opposite - they only didn't turn up for about 6-7 games out of 82 this season and in the playoffs didn't turn up for 3 out of 6.

Given that the Ducks are playing really well, already have a team good enough to win and have the easiest road to the final then they must surely be the odds on faves to win it.
There is not as much depth in the East, but those teams still battle hard against each other and I'm not sure any can match up to the Ducks if they play well.

I'd give Lightning the best chance and fancy them to upset the Ducks if the 2 meet in the final. But I have been known to be wrong on 1 or 2 occasions. (ah, my fave line from tv ever...for those that get it)

gonna just say it now.

I reckon Caps are gonna take the series.

is it just me or has the 6+ game series at round one for most of the team resulted in some tired looking players and some shocking missed opportunities.

Ovis goal from top of the house though... Sniiiipe!

Agree on this. Ducks were very fortunate to have a long rest and it easily shows.

Caps started too slow today, come back almost happened but couldn't quite do it.

Still at least we took one of the road games from them.

Holtby. That is all.

pleasantly surprised when I saw the score this morning :D

The caps/Rangers games do look very intensive, compared to the Ducks/Flames games they look a whole league higher!

Another win for the ducks at the weekend, managed to watch it although the 3am start has taken its toll! Easy in the winter when its still dark at 6am but summer when its getting bright at 5am is awful (even the bank holiday didn't help much).

Ramos easily kept the flames in it for as long as he could, defense left him out to dry so many times, as the commentators said if it wasn't for his impressive saves they would've been down 4 - 0 in the first period.

Wow I have to give credit to the Caps they have really stepped up for this series.
Having seen a bunch of their games against NYI, I didn't think they would have a serious chance against NYR.

They have upped their game for sure and now just need to steal an away game or take it at home and they go through.

Lightning are looking good. I still believe they will win the cup this year. I only had the Blues beating them in the final because my heart wanted that but I deff fancy them to win it all.
They are my preferred team from the East so I'd be happy with that. If the Blues can't win it (they likely never will), Lightning would be my next choice.
