Nice pongs and gorgeous whiffs. The Aftershave thread!

I got my confirmation email through that it's been picked up and should be with me either tomorrow, possibly Wedensday at the lastest. However, the email with my invoice on it indicated that apart from the bottle i ordered, I'm also getting some 2ml samples of Milano (already had this as part of a sample set and also think its a great fragrance), Oud Bleu which I've not had yet and New York Intense (the one which i compared to a Turkish brothel a couple of pages back :o)

Oud Bleu notes from the website

Top Notes
Cardamom, Nutmeg, Mandarin
Middle Notes
Frankincense, Ciste, Myrhh Essence, Amber
Base Notes
Opoponax Resinoid, Myrhh Resinoid, Styrax, Benzoin, 100% pure organic vintage Oud

Wow. Stunning presentation ! Grats! How’s the atomiser ?

I've not actually sprayed any of it yet for a couple of reasons. I've still got some left from my sample set and I'm still currently enjoying the smell of Milano that i put on this morning! I'll be giving this a quick blast at the weekend i think. I'm sure the company could have saved a little on the price of the stuff by not having the box as luxurious as it is, but I guess that's half the thing with the luxury brand stuff. There is a small packet on the lid of the box which has a small sample of the oud wood along with the geographical location of where it was grown.

Also got a mention on the Fragrance Du Bois Instagram story! :D

I think I read somewhere the most expensive part of the fragrance is the cap :P in any case, nice purchase. I need to grab some samples of FdB

Oddly enough I just went through, lifted the lid then did a spray into the cap (christ i think that cost me £5 :o). Seems to have a good enough atomiser to it. Also the removing and replacing the lid is smooth but feels there's a good connection to keep it on tightly.

It’s good to prime it, because the first few sprays can smell a bit off due to the new atomiser, and stem. (I’ve had a few bottles smell strange on the first spray or two)

edit, also good to get a bit of air in the bottle !

Got some samples in the post today. Only tried one so far (wood sage and sea salt by jo malone - very nice, but seriously underwhelming performance)

Jo Malone / Wood Sage and Sea Salt
Nasomatto / Fantomas
Creed / Royal Oud + MI
Fragrance One / Black Tie

Been given a 100 quid Boots voucher for 5 years service at work... I have no idea why a Boots voucher was deemed appropriate, but going to treat myself to a nice fragrance for the summer (when I'm sitting around in my flat doing absolutely **** all)

Thinking Tom Ford, either Noir or Black Orchid, any other suggestions I should be considering?

Neither of those are very well suited for summer days, but they would work for summer nights out. Can you get into a store to sample some fragrances ? I know with lockdown it probably isn’t possible. Edit or maybe it is with boots ? I haven’t been shopping in a long time

Notino it seems have been doing some crazy deals lately, so got some Versace eros edp, very attention grabbing certainly got noticed for wearing it.
And ordered some Moschino Toy Boy, seems to get some very divided opinions, but I have Y live edp, Valentino uomo intense amongst others so should get along with this rose scented monster.

I have toy boy. Smells nothing like anything on the market at the moment. Be interesting to hear your thoughts.

Edit. I do like it. Just find it difficult to find an occasion to wear it. It’s super strong too. Like one spray would be enough :P

Well the price, along with the divided opinions and how like you say it's nothing like anything out there.
Well I have Rasasi la yuqawam which is seriously strong, so should get on fine with it.

I will however have to buy a summer scent, that's something I'm really lacking, despite amassing a fair collection in the last few months.

D&G light blue edp, or Mercedes I'm thinking we'll see.

Mrs wanted to spend money in Boots, so I've ended up giving her my voucher and decided 'sod it' and I'm going to treat myself to a stand out fragrance.

The decision is... Aventus Creed or Tom Ford Tobacco Oud.

I remember sampling the Tom Ford fragrance at airport duty free many moons ago and loved the scent, similarly I see people rave about Aventus here although I've never had the pleasure of sampling it. I live in the ghetto, so absolutely nowhere local that would sell high end fragrances without a 10 mile journey which probably isn't essential travel.

What would you go for?

Aventus can be very hit and miss, I’ve had very good bottles and poor bottles.

The scent itself is one of the best I own, second to Chanel Egoiste.

I haven’t tried tobacco oud. So my vote is for Aventus. :)

Aventus is so overrated and overpriced. I first purchased it back in 2013 for about £120 for 120ml. I used about 30ml of it and sold it on for £170 a few years ago. If you're interested in Aventus its best to buy it from a split.
