It's probably the biggest human event in recent times, I can't think of anything else.
It was an attack on western civilisation as a whole and very relevant to the entire western world.
The towers contained people and companies from around the world.
It has change world events and world politics.
RIP to those who lost their lives
If Spie continues to do this as he has done, good on him, that's no problem for me, I'm sure there are many people who were directly and indirectly affected by this and want to show a mark of respect. I'm in full support of that, and respect them for their decisions.
Please don't think that I'm some horrible person because of my opinions on this.
I don't agree with all the fuss that is made over it, when you stop and think to how many lives this one event has cost the world.
Certainly not, But I do think it has plenty to do with the UK and world history. Including the wars and the innocent deaths you talk off.
Its the last biggest event to happen in the western world, so its the one most people first think of events wise. It may not have caused as many deaths as other eastern world events but yeah.
I have to admit. Unill I logged onto OCuk I completley forgot what day it was
Thanks Spie
I watched it on the TV as well, but never think about it, until it's drummed into me by all and sundry. TBH unless you are American or knew one of the 70 brits that dies there really is no significance now. Just another terrorist incident like the dozens before it (and couple after) that killed brits...
There are hundreds of other terrorist incidents I have heard about in my life but it was the fact that I was watching this particular one live as it happened, and the implications that it has had on the world since, that made this event stick with me. I've never seen anything else like that unfold as it happens.
certainly brings it all back into perspective.
can't believe it has been 8 years

Fair enough, I know it's down to the owner's discretion, but I'm confused as to why the forums are not also closed for July 7th too.
