Nightclub firm Luminar in administration

Oceana in Kingston isn't the worst I've been to, but it's certainly not nice. I've been punched in the head whilst walking past the queue before.

The company also owns The Hippodrome in Kingston which used to be The Works. The name and management changed shortly after the stabbings. While the venues offer different themes/nights, they are still competing with themselves which must be awkward.

I hope whoever takes over the venues in Kingston, doesn't let the standards drop even lower.

The Works was one of the worst places I've ever been to in my entire life. I remember the Oceana in Kingston opening about 8-9 years ago and used to really enjoy going on a student night for a few years. I've been once in the last six years due to the clientele/lingering smell/constant threat of alpha violence!

I only went to the works 2 or 3 times (ok i was maybe like 19 at the time), used to quite enjoy it. Can't stand the Oceana there, infact i cant stand oceanas anywhere! Infact i'm not a big fan of Kingston either ;)

In the same way watching gorillas in their natural habitat is amusing.

Okay, some of the sports lads from university can be a bit annoying, the pervy old men lingering on the edges, the fat slags and the crap music do bring it down a notch.

But still. :p

Oh sod it, I agree with you. Still fun though. ^^

They had a liquid in town, was good years ago but they let under-age people in and was a nightmare to go in, then they revamped it, was even worst, £5-6 to get in then £3+ for a bottle.

Just go to an independent bar that is over 21, £2 to get in and cheap drinks.

As pointed out already, they also own Oceana.

Used to go to the MK Oceana around 9 years ago when it was 'good' or the place to 'go'.

I went roughly 8 months ago possibly, empty, overpriced and rubbish music.

Case closed on this one then.

I'd be surprised if they closed them all down so close to christmas works nights out etc. When I was younger, the only reason we used to go to nightclubs on a night out was because the pubs closed at 11. That's not the case now.

Haven't been to Liquid or Oceana in about 6-7 years. We stopped going when our friends stopped working behind the bar.

Never understood why they paid for a DJ when they played the same CD week in week out.

lots of small night clubs making the owners a nice little profit, employing a few locals...

along comes globo-mega-corp,

buys up all the little guys, puts the rest out of business all the money is taken by the execs and the business folds, execs keep all their millions, workers are left with nothing and the suppliers have to write their debts off.

Did all the night clubs make a huge loss? how did they manage to get in so much debt?

The people who are happy that these places have closed are obviously forgetting the fact that all these people who you class as chavs who go to these clubs will obviously need a new place to go and will flood the bars and clubs you like.
